Hamburger wild rice casserole

6 posts in this topic

I had a friend who used to make this and I can't remember the recipe. I know it had the following ingredients:

Hamburger

white rice

wild rice

cream of celery soup

celery

onion

soysauce

butter

Not sure what other ingredients or how much of each, anybody recognize this?

Mmm, yeah I do Barb. Good stuff! I'll look for the exact recipe tonight when I get home.

Here's one that's really close.

HAMBURGER AND RICE HOT DISH

2 lbs. hamburger

Little over 1 c. raw white rice

1/2 c. wild rice

2 c. chopped celery

1/4 to 1/2 c. chopped onion

2 C. sliced mushrooms

1 can cream of mushroom soup

1 can cream of celery soup

4 tbsp. soy sauce

2 1/2 c. boiling water

Brown hamburger, celery and onions. Add all ingredients in casserole or small roaster and bake 2 hours at 350 degrees or until done. Stir occasionally.

Ps. I also add a small can of sliced water chestnuts to it.

Mmm, good stuff.

Bob

Thank you so very much, the only difference I see is the recipe I had called for some butter. I will try this later this week. Yes, yes, yes to the water chestnuts.

Sounds delicious!! One question: is the wild rice already cooked when added in this recipe?
