Where to sight in a rifle?

14 posts in this topic

Where can a guy go and shoot a rifle to get a new scope sighted in? I live in Hopkins so some place close would be great,..even within a half hour would be excellent too.

Thanks in advance

Moon Valley down in Shakopee, just before you cross the river on hwy 212 just past the Lions Tap. Pretty crappy place, but about the only one this side of the metro.

They list them at the DNR HSOforum. You can look them up by county.

I have heard nothing but bad things about Moon Valley, this is why I am seeking out something else.

Worst case I take the drive south and shoot at the rifle range near my girlfriends families place.

I did shoot last night but its not something I can just go do at my convience.

Towns have ordinaces also. Ya might have to have so many acres.

Maybe you can't shoot rifles south of the border line except at the rifle range, too..

True. I was hesitant to shoot my rifle on my property. It is a very loud gun, and might make people nervous. I'll have to take it into the boonies with me sometime and shoot it smile.gif

I live in the country...is it ok to sight in a rifle on my property? I do have a neighbor through the woods and a safe place to shoot into an embankment.

It should be legal to shoot on your own property as long as you are outside of the city limits. Maybe speak with your neighbors to make sure they are cool with it just in case and out of respect for them.

You could drive up north to Beaverbrook gun club.It would be maybe a 45 minute drive for you? From Hopkins take 494 to 694 east to hwy 65(central ave.) go north to klondike blvd. go east about 1 to 1-1/2 mile look for signs on the north side (left) for it.Take the dirt road all the way back to the club house and then go right to the rifle range shack. They have an exelent range,25,50 and 100 yrd's spotting scopes, targets provided. It is only $7.00 per gun,$1.00 for bore sight, and $.50 for ear plugs. They change targets for you and have knowlegable people to help you if you need any thing.Get there by 8:30 AM or around noon for the best time to move through the line qwick.

Grabs,

Did you ever find a place? If you are still looking, let me know.

Huskminn, thanks for the offer but I did find a place. My girlfriends uncle belongs to a club down in Sandborn, really nice place, they have rifle range, pistol range and a trap area with 5 throwers 2 of those five are voice activated throwers.

Very nice to go here, there wasn't anyone else there this time of year as everyone pretty much shoots shotguns in that area.

Got her all sighted in, 2.5" high at 100yds, and the last three shots were all inside the same hole, the hole just got a little wider with each shot.

No excuses now, just show me a deer and they only thing I can blame is myself!

    • 70 HP Johnson motor.  Older model, but low hours on it.  Starts up fine, but when I go to give it gas the engine bogs down and won't come anywhere near running as fast as it should.  Anyone have any thoughts on the cause?  Wondering if maybe the carbs need to be cleaned.  If so, anyone know how much of a job that is?   Thank you in advance for any feedback.
    • The Warriors won't lose anyone that wants to stay with them since Durant is basically sitting back and saying pay my boys and then we will take care of business.  Hard to lure a free agent from them if their studs take such paycuts...
    • Score!! Nice find.
    • I still don't like the Hanzal/White trade.  I can see a team that is on the edge or coming into the playoffs as a 6,7,8 seed, but at the time, the Wild was 1st in the West and everything was going great.  I really didn't see a reason why they needed to change or bring in other players.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it.  They could have brought guys up from Iowa down the stretch to spell the vets and give them some motivation.   I'd like to know what Baby Boudreau wants to change or what he would like to see on the team. It would be nice to have somebody that really knows and wants to work the front of the net.  Parise is the closest thing we have to that and that isn't good for his longevity.  Be nice if Coyle embraced a role like that and used his size out front.
    • Probably because most people wouldn't sell one of these for that much. I'm not sure why they did and well I didn't ask. Maybe they didn't like it as even being a older grill it had hardly been used and looks like new. I already had a Holland Companion grill that works great but this is even better.
    • Skol!  I'm excited to see how Cooks pans out.  He seems legit so far!  What was the deal with KFAN ditching the rubechat forums?  I know the political page could get a little overheated at times but the others seemed pretty tame.  Too bad!
    • Wow!! Now THAT's a deal!!!!!!! Why can't I find stuff like that?!
    • Well not exactly new. Found this at a yard sale for $40.
    • Havnt seen him for a while and is a lot bigger now.
