Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Who's Going Out And Who Can Not Wait?

Recommended Posts

So who are the FM members going out for Gun season this year?

I figure I would get a good old thread started to get us pumped and see which FM’ers are going to be out in the fields and woods this year.

Anyone getting excited yet? grin

I sure am wink.

I am hunting the same old patch of private land close to home, that I have been hunting for the last 6 years or so. I never get anything great, but sure love just going. I always buy a license to support the cause, but never know if I am going till a couple days before hand.

Just like last year, I was digging threw the threads and posts in one of FM's most awesome forums (Deer-Bear-Elk-Moose) and it got me pumped enough once again to go out, get skunked, but have some good old fashion fun cool.

Yep, I did not build that deluxe tree cabin I had planned on doing this year whistle. Never got around to planting that food plot either frown , but "Old Trusty" checked out ok tonight and is still ready to hold my bum for another MN deer opener wink.

Anyone else getting the bug?????

Well Shack....if you are just getting the bug, you are months behind most of us!! Nothing like Deer Camp! Why do you think I have been writing all those chapters in The Deer Camp story thread. Gotta deal with the excitement somehow. Good luck to you and to all. This weekend is one of the best times of year, if not the best. Be safe everyone.... as far as that "itch" you were talking about... mine is more like a full body rash!!! grin

Yep Coach, your thread is awesome and a big reason I am going this weekend grin.

Unfortunately, I have too many bugs in the fire and deer is one them that creeps up for me at the last minute these days wink , more so with the help of FM.

From buying ice gear the last couple weeks, Sturgeon fishing only a hand full of weeks ago, an awesome pheasant hunting trip a couple weeks back, buying a new sled, winter get ready around the house stuff, work, working on my boat trailer and getting up to ML before ice up (plus a bunch of other junk not listed), I just came upon my yearly deer bug pretty much today grin.

Gott’a go deer hunting though and I figure I would start a good old roll call thread grin!

I think this is some of the most painstaking hours of work. Can't wait for the clock to hit 3:30 so I can go home, load up and head off to deer camp. Spend tomorrow setting up camp, get the fire going and [PoorWordUsage] with the others in camp. Then hit it hard til Tuesday. Hopefully my son will get his first deer this weekend. Think I am more nervous for him crazy than excited for myself. Either way.......I LOVE DEER CAMP!!!! grin

I'm so ready to head out tomorrow, the only bad thing is that I have to wait until tomorrow. I've been pretty much worthless at work as well. I'm trying all sorts of little things to try and keep me from going crazy like posting on FM and writing up the list of things to bring along smile

I also took the whole week off.

Tommorrow I'm hoping to get out duck hunting in the morning, then walk for some roosters in the afternoon. Then it's deer hunting either untill I drop one or the season ends.

You cant beat this time of year.

I am worthless at work and home this week. My wife told me/asked me last night if I did the stuff she apparently asked me to do, I said you never told me that....well if I wasn't so concerned about deer hunting...I just laughed and said you'll never understand...then this morning on my way to work up hwy 61 from cottage grove there were 2 dead bucks (recent roadkills) 1 was a 9 point and the other was a 7 point...I almost turned around and loaded up but have to wait until tomorrow.....I might have to get me a real set of rattlin horns on my way home tonight... grin

I didnt get my fix of archery hunting so shotgun season will have to do. sad part is ive only been at my job for over a year so I have little seniority so I have to wait until sunday to hunt and Ive only got through tuesday. good luck to all and stay safe

I ahve had the fever for awhile now. At least this crappy rainy weather is helping me stay in the office and somewhat on task. Although if it quits I am grabbing my bow and heading for the woods. Gun opener is just around the corner...

I can't wait. I have had my bags packed and guns cleaned for 2 weeks. All my clothes are outside flying in the breeze trying to get that last scent out. I head up after class tonight for 5 days of hanging with my uncles and watching my younger causins try to hang with the big boys. I love this time of year and the hunting season. I wouldn't trade deer hunting in cold and snow for a spot on a island beach in a million years. Heres to good hunting and great times

Be safe out there!!

    • Anyone have a purple martin house? I’m planning on putting one up this spring, but I don’t quite have the open space that is suggested (minimum of 40 ft from tall trees/house). Wondering if anyone has had those same issues, but were still successful in attracting purple martins? The pole I bought is 12 ft high, so I’m thinking of maybe buying a second one, and using a couple of the extensions to make it a few feet higher to compensate for the lack of open space. Have the martins had a noticeable impact on bugs? I’m hoping they can do a number on the horse flies in my neighborhood. Plus, they sound really pretty

    • While the southern half of the state saw some significant rainfall and even some flooding this week, areas of northern Wisconsin received up to nearly a foot of new snow. Snowmobile trails remain in good to excellent condition in nearly 20 of the most northern tier counties on the Wisconsin Department of Tourism's Snow Conditions Report (exit DNR). Cross-Country Ski Trail Conditions are also good to excellent across the north.Cross-country ski trails are in excellent condition at Pattison State Park, which received nearly a foot of snow this week. The park is hosting a Winterfest on Saturday.Photo credit: Gervase Thompson A kids fisheree on Lake Noquebay in Marinette County last weekend produced some very nice fish including perch, crappie, bluegill, walleye, northern, and trout. The lake ice was nearly 2 feet thick. There have been good northern pike catches on the back waters of the Wolf River on tip ups baited with a shiner.Whitefish fishing has remained pretty decent up and down the entire Bay of Green Bay. Some anglers are targeting perch too but with moderate to poor success. Whitefish were still being caught off the Oconto breakwater in decent numbers. Toward the end of the week only anglers from Sawyer Harbor had good luck and were able to come in with their limits of whitefish after a half day out on the ice. Anglers fishing the Fox River at Voyageurs park report fishing slowed with a few walleyes and whitefish still being caught. .
    • The Peacock Bass has been on my fishing bucket list since I first saw a picture of one when I was in elementary school. I don't think I'll make it to the Amazon anytime soon so when our Florida vacation was booked I made it a point to get to SE Florida and chase these beautiful specimens! For our adventure we went out near Miami, FL with local guide Captain Scott Rose. He shared a lot of information about this unique fishery and put us on both numbers and quality fish. Our Biggest 5 weighed in at 20.5lbs! This trip was something I won't soon forget.
    • I can recall,   farther back than you think, of running into one now and then and finding one inn a trap from time to time. And this was MORE than fifty years ago,  so they've been around a while. Maybe just an uptick in the population in southern MN.
    • For any of you that have ever had a desire to do any sledding in the Black Hills... This is definitely the year to do it. This is by far the most snow that I have seen out there. On most years, you can get lucky to ride either the Northern or Southern hills... This year both are awesome and the meadows are full! I am hoping to get out there once more before the end of the month.
    • Yeah, but somewhere in Iowa there is an imaginary line where the ratio of road kill flips from possums towards coons.   Their fur is pretty thin.   Had one under the deck a few winters ago that would literally shiver as he scavenged bird seed.  Missing a handful of toes, some bits of ear, and the end of his tail was black from frostbite.   About 20 years ago, I plowed my first armadillo in southern Missouri with the car.   Now it's about 50/50 on roadkill whether its a possum or a dillo.   They made their way up from Texas I guess.
    •   They have been hanging in there for the last couple decades in tropical Rochester area.
    •   Too many variables. Impact strength, airflow setting and wear factors, air pressure variance,  lubrication habits, and of course the operator. It's very easy to exceed what the stick is rated for. Not break the lugs next time tight, but maybe a free brake pulsation 2-3 months down the road after the rotor is distorted and runout turns into thickness variation.  I always use a size smaller with the impact turned all the way down and frequently have less than a 1/8 of a turn left to go. I will even tailor how heavy I pull the trigger and ALWAYS follow up with a torque wrench.     Left hand lugs was an old Mopar trick. Knowing about them does date you!
    • Had a 69 Dodge Charger that had left and right hand lug nuts. Was pretty much a Dodge/Chrysler thing
