WinterHaven
I booked a trip last year in the middle of February on LOTW in a sleeper and we did well but the action was hit or miss during the trip. People have told me that why did I go in February I needed to go in January because the fishing is alot better. So here is my question, I booked my trip this year from Jan.15 thru the 18th instead of the middle of February. Should the ice action be typically better during this time or does it really not matter between the 2 months. I have a buddy who faithfully would go in the middle of February and had a lot of years where it was really slow.
PerchJerker
Typically early ice and late ice are going to be the best times for ice fishing, but last year I went to LOTW around Jan 1, middle of Feb, and middle of March, and we had good action each time. Weather can be a determining factor on any weekend. Hopefully the resort you booked with will move their houses to keep them on top of the best bites. Hope you have a great trip! Quetico
In the two trips up there I've made, we had far better luck fishing out of the Angle/Islands region then we had on the south shore. We caught bigger fish and better numbers while based out the NWA permanent houses.
wplatehunter
The angle has always been better fishing for me, and a lot less people around.
muc33
I wait until mid March, in mid Feb, you have to put on some Ice miles to really get into fish, at least that is what I have found. Up to Garden or Knight.
