Big Buddy Burn Time

Ha ha ha, I run a 20lb on my big buddy and no Filter on it? I running on my 3rd season with no problems, why would you need a filter? is the propane dirty or something, I would like to know what i does to the buddy heaters if you don't run a filter?

Its not so much the propane or the tank. If your using an unregulated hose the pressure of the propane in the hose will squeeze contaminates and impurities out of the hose itself. If you have a brand new hose it will likely not show up for a while until the hose starts to brake down. Mr. Heater also recommends turning off the valve on the tank and letting the heater burn off the gas in the hose to help reduce the possibility of contaminates getting squeezed out during non use.

If you use the quick disconnect hose a filter is not required...as it relieves the pressure in the line that can produce contaminants that plug up the inner valves of the Big Buddy.

If you use the non-quick connect and leave the hose connected for extended periods than the filter is well advised to head of contaminant problems.

Thanks for everyone's info on the buddy heaters thou, to get back to topic. I've had the small buddy for 3-4(?)years and it still works great. I use the 1#ers and refill them myself(with a little common sense)Burn time is about 2+ hrs on low if I recall.
