Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Aitkin, Emily, Palisade MN area

Recommended Posts

I finished school last December in South Dakota and enjoyed 4.5 years of the best hunting I have ever seen. Now I am back in the Twin Cities wishing I was still in school just for the hunting perks. Anyways, hunting around the metro has been quite poor compared to what I am used too and talking about it is only self embarassment! I grouse hunted around the Emily area two weekends ago and did quite well. I will be going up again this weekend and am wondering how the duck/goose numbers look this year. I have never waterfowl hunted in the area but am going to give it a try. Any info you can give me would be much appreciated. I am not looking for your secret spot but if you know of an area I may want to consider let me know. I will also be scouting on Saturday in order to hunt Sunday morning. Also if anyone is interested I have a boat and well trained dog, if anyone is interested in joining me please let me know. Thank you in advance for you help.

I hunted in this outing this weekend north of emily on 6 saw a few birds nothing really to speak of a couple nice flocks of 15-20 birds mostly ringnecks and a couple teal, not many mallards though and was really curious about that cause a buddy of mine has a place by squaw lake and the mallards are all over. Not much of anything for geese. Talked to a guy thogh and he said guys were doing pretty good on big rice north of outing Still on Highway 6.Its a non motorized lake so time pushing a canoe is the way to go. but none of this is comparable to the dakotas thats for sure.

We were pretty close to Big Rice last weekend and saw good numbers of birds. I'd start your scouting right on Big Rice. I don't think its much of a secret as there are good numbers of hunters there all the time. They don't allow motors out there so you need to do it the old fashioned way with oars. I was surprised at how little shooting we heard. Also we drove around some but the weather was to wet for grousing to be much fun.

Good Luck - erik

There's plenty of places in that area to bag a few ducks. There isn't a ton of birds in the area right now but the next couple of days should move a few birds around.

You can try Big Rice, Mud & Goose, White Elk.

Wow! I really appreciate all the quick resposes. It sounds like North of Emily is the place to be. I saw on the DNR's web page there is a public spot up around that area. I believe it was called the Land O' Lakes WMA. I may start up that way. Any word about Palisade/Aitkin area. I know there is a river that runs through Palisade there must be backwaters somewhere also saw a few public spots up and down Hwy 169. Thanks again to everyone for the help.

    • Way cool. Do you have some kind of protective cover to put over the panels when you going down the road?  Lot's of ice chunks and other road debris flying around in the winter. Even the road salt build up over time may not be good on them.
    • Bet there weren't any leftovers.....
    • jmercil......... In your last pic, are those PC fans up near the  ceiling?  If so, tell me a little more about your setup.  Fans only at the top, or top and bottom?  Some type of pvc flange where they wall mount?  PVC pipe in the walls? etc, etc.
    • Most wheelers start hitting the ice at 6" do you plan to pull it out with a wheeler or yourself?
