Heres a real economic bailout!!

30 posts in this topic

I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a We Deserve It Dividend.

To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18

and up..

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billion that equals $425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a We Deserve It Dividend.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free.

So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.

That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.

A husband and wife has $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?

Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.

Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads

Put away money for college - it'll be there

Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.

Buy a new car - create jobs

Invest in the market - capital drives growth

Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improves

Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.

If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( "vote buy" ) economic incentive that is being proposed by one of our candidates for President.

If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!

As for AIG - liquidate it.

Sell off its parts.

Let American General go back to being American General.

Sell off the real estate.

Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't.

Sure it's a crazy idea that can "never work."

But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!

How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC.

And remember, The Family plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Nice, I've seen this about 85 million times now. It's $425 a person.

$425.00 per person grin

At 30%, we would get about $297.50. Is not worth it in my book!

This is just so classic and a true statement of American society.

We will believe anything we are told as long as it sounds good beucase we are too lazy to do the math ourselves.

Can we do something to outlaw ridiculous chain mails? I think this forum would be much more intelligent without them.

Nice first two topics, coyote. One rant, one wildly inaccurate!

I wouldn't jump too hard on Coyote. This has been posted on here before. I've had a lot of people send this too me that fell for it. Then you look at it and think it's seems like too much money so you whip out the calc and there ya go.

Heck 425.00 I'll take it and keep it away from Both Fanny & freddy AIG well you get the idea.

Sandmannd, I'm jumping because I've seen several posts here, not to mention many in my email in-box, playing fast-and-loose with the truth in the past week or two.

Those who pass these things on without bothering to think about them or analyze them are spreading ignorance. That's a punishable crime in my book.

My question is, why don't I get left-wing emails? Only right-wing emails? I think I'm going to have to seriously examine my choice of friends!

This one again? Do the math it is $425.00 NOT $425,000.00.

Did I say I wrote this? Did I say I did the math? Didn't think so! MAXIMUM12.......Maybe you should quit assuming things and being so judgemental. Everything you write draws a pretty good description of your personality. Were you treated poorly as a child? Is that why your so rude?

I think Max is little confused politically, he is not as bad as some on these threads.

NAPAFISH, how dare you call me not as bad as 'those' others. Guess I'm going to have to ramp it up a notch... wink

And my political views aren't confused. They're diverse.

Sure looked to me like you had written it, as there were no "quotes" or acknowledgement of where it came from. I would have checked the math before I posted it.

Anyone care to do the math if we were to divide the 700 billion between the 22 million people who actually filed a tax return?

Bet THAT would be a sweet economic stimulous package.

    •   Gee whiz, it took me 2 seconds to google it. Looks like it was The Hill.
    • Sure puts the Ion to shame....
    •     You're ok with the status quo, too, but you have never provided any rational explanation as to why.
    • I am flying from Phoenix to Omaha tomorrow evening.  I do not remember the last time i drove in snow.  hopefully it will be plowed by the time i get in at 730pm.
    • What's wrong with letting adults decide what they do with themselves and letting states make the calls when necessary?    As to your second paragraph, does oxycontin get treated like ibuprofen? Are all legal drugs treated the same or are there standards used for certain types of legalized drugs?    At the core I don't like the feds involved in regulating drugs, guns, tobacco etc but if I have to choose between making them illegal, which sends them underground where there is no consistency, no standards, no way if the consumer being able to know what they are buying and legalizing them where at least they are subject to some measures of consistency in manufacturing then I would grudgingly take the latter.    You always seem to get hung up on this all or nothing kick when there are other options that can be used.
    • Well I went to the dealership to order my vinyl and lucky I did, one of the salesman told me the precut wood I had ordered is sized for carpet and not vinyl. If I use the vinyl I'd have a quarter inch gap or so in between the pieces...So now I'm gonna go with carpet which sucks since I had my heart set on vinyl...oh well
    • By the time the wedder morjits are done hyping it down here, it'll be the storm of the century, with thousands stranded and the National Guard dropping supplies from C-130's., pulled down the runway by herds of reindeer.
    • I was up last weekend.  It was my 3rd trip of the year.  I canceled my rooms for my March trip.  Call the Hamilton House...2 rooms just opened up for the 8-11th of March.     There's a ton of Walleyes in LW, but debatable how many big ones.  Big fish seem to be in decline.  Pick any reason you want, but it's a fact.  The big fish are nowhere near as prevalent.  That doesn't mean you won't catch one...or multiple...but you're going to have to work.  If you're not in the fish, move.  If you find fish, but not bigger ones...move.   I'm a mover...I'll move 5 times in a day easy.  I know guys who will wait it out all day and they might be the guys who catch some big fish, but they're usually the guys who only catch a few eaters and nothing big.  just my opinion.  Good luck and above all, don't let all the fisherman completely devoid of courtesy be justification to abandon yours.
