Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Ideas on how to cook my tom...

Recommended Posts

I was lucky enough to harvest a nice 25.5lb tom (field dressed) this spring and I was wondering if any of you have any good recipes to share. I've always just cooked them in a roaster and I was hoping to do something a little different and fun.... and hopefully tastey. grin Thanks for any ideas. I have to please the outlaws this Thanksgiving and I'm looking to wow them.

My buddy over in Wisconsin shared his rub recipe with me a long time ago and it was deliscious to say the least. The minimum time marinating in the fridge is 24 hours....my suggestion....30 hours.Hope you enjoy it.

Turkey Rub

25 bay leaves, crushed

3 1/2 teaspoons dried thyme

3 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano

1 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground pepper

2 teaspoons garlic powder

3 tablespoons Creole seasoning

In a small bowl mix together the bay leaves, thyme, oregano, pepper, garlic powder and Creole seasoning. Rub onto a turkey and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before frying. If you like garlic...add a bit more with a pinch of salt.

Deep fry it like you normally do.I even like this on chicken!

There are alot of good brines you can soak the bird in the day before you cook it. They usually include something to add sugar to the bird. Dr. Pepper is one ingredient I have seen used. I don't have any recipes off the top of my head but I am sure you can do a [YouNeedAuthorization] search for some.

My mom has special 5 gallon turkey bucket used just for this purpose. Don't tell her I brought it ice fishing with me once or twice.

The rub above sounds pretty good as well. I only question the bay leaves, usually when using bay leaves you remove them and do not eat them. This seems like they would be eaten.

I would probably do that rub without deep frying it though. Every deep fried bird always tastes the same to me. They seem to loose the flavor of the seasonings during the frying process. I preffer grill or just roasted in the oven.

    • agreed i use an app called geo gone that scrubs all data. I have locations turned off but also scrub every photo just encase.
    •   I am not a big Football guy but feel sorry for those folks as well.  IMO if you are just wanting to watch some good hockey with no desire to Win the cup then you are just a casual Fan and that is all good....but I see it differently....it all starts with Hope. As far as the crazy talk this is a quote directly from Liepold out of the Pioneer Press at the start of this season “Anything short of winning the Stanley Cup would be a disappointment,” Leipold said. So my guess is he's getting impatient too, he wants to bring a Cup to MN, he sees we have not been improving, and IMO he's setting the table to give Fletch his walking papers if in fact we don't make a deep run this year.

    • Starting with the 2018 model year (released in March 2017), all 8' wide Yetti's have a 72" x 80" rear ramp door. Many common interior finishes reduce the width down to 70". There are 17'+V front and 21'+V front tandem hydraulic models available. In addition, these Traxx Editions (toy haulers) have adequate hauling capacity for your UTV plus gear.    Good luck on your search!    https://yettioutdoors.com/products/#traxx
    •   This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^   I think the difference is that when message boards like this one were more popular, the info was archived in a user friendly format. Anyone could find the info about Lake Waconia because it was cataloged and searchable under a heading or search terms that made sense. Now the info being offered in groups on Facebook is just a bunch of bits here and there and if you don't catch it when it is first posted, the chances are you will never see it.
    •   yes this is a good point. But also remember to not be like a particular poster that used to frequent the forums who alleged to catch the same exact fish on different casts. But the exif data showed that the 2 pics were taken within a second of each other and the b.s flag was thrown.
    • Been on facebook? there's plenty of chatter on there.
    • Any suggestions?   I'm running out of ideas. My wife is working today but I am home in the snowstorm all day. We just had chicken wild rice soup last night and chili not too long ago so no soups and I don't feel like standing outside by the grill or smoker in this weather so what should I make for supper?
    • From Strikemaster.....   This size blade has been discontinued since 1981. Wow.......so my auger is at best only 37 years old.......If it could only tell stories.
