I have been noticing when retracting the motor that it seems to bind or slow some in spots when comming up, one time it stopped shortly after starting the "up" motion but going back down then up again it worked fine.

is there anywhere to lube the shaft? and if so what type of lube would you use? no manual.

I'm aware that this problem has been an issue with these, just hoping to avoid it now since it seems intermitant... if possible.

I have a vantage and have noticed the same thing. I'm not sure about lubing it but have noticed it sometimes binds if the motor is turned a certain direction. Hast't been enough of an issue to do anything about so I'll keep running it til something happens.
