Throttle set on 1968 Johnson 6 hp

2 posts in this topic

I am at a loss on how to set the motor at a set speed and keep it there while I have my hand off the tiller. Right now if I set the speed it gradually decreases to idle.

Is there a way to do this on this old motor? It was given to me and it idles and purrs so smooth. It would make a perfect trolling motor!

While I don't know where it's at... there's very likely a friction adjustment - look all around the handle, and where the linkage comes out of the handle for a adjustment screw.
