Ryder Cup!

16 posts in this topic

I know there hasn't been a lot of hype with this years Ryder Cup but I'll be watching and Rooting for the Stars and Stripes!

On paper our Team doesn't look all that great but we're at home so that should give us a glimmer of hope in what has become a regular Lambasting on the Links by the Euro's!

I'm picking an upset USA 14 1/2 Europe 13 1/2.

Go USA.... grin

I love the Ryder Cup. Nothing like making an Individual Sport a TEAM SPORT. Not to mention the fact that we have been dominated lately and the Euro"whiners" are still upset about our celebration and the big comeback from few years ago.

I just hope it is a tight race on Sunday so it gets interesting. USA...USA...USA...USA...USA

Pretty good action today. Guys were making some great putts, and some great shots as well. See the Boo-man's fairway bunker shot?? Awesome!

I loved to see that 3 "nobodys" played such a pivotal role in our winning the cup.........was tiger on the ryder cup team the last time they won it?

What a great sporting event!! What other sporting event do you see all that emotion right from the get go!! Bummer that they couldn't pull it out.... I don't quite understand why Mahan would be the final guy out... I know he had a good record last time, but I think it should have been a more veteran guy..... either way, after the whole they dug on Sunday, was nice to seem them respond.

I just hope Mahan doesnt feel like he let the team down. There were alot of opportunities before it came down to his match. Even though he chunked that chip - McDowell was most likely going to par that hole anyway - and then the match would have still been over. Its too bad though - cause thats what people will remember. I would take Mahan over some of the other guys any day. Mickelson and woods included. Mickelson and Woods dont play well on any kind of "team". Woods won a few points - but only due to Strickers great play - and Mickelson didnt do much of anything in pairs either. Then you get them alone and they both win. The europeans have the edge when it comes to playing as a team. The US needs to work on that team spirit.

I'm not blaming Mahan.... they lost the cup with their miserable Sat/Sun performance. I just think it would have been best to have an old vet, who is more accustomed to the pressure in that last slot, in case it came down to that.

I was unimpressed with Pavin and his management. I just don't think it makes sense to have Tiger in most of the 4 ball/Alternate shot portions.... he's terrible in that format. No reason to have him out there for that portion.

It is still the best golf event to watch by far.... I love the Masters as well, but the emotion at the Ryder is so neat to see....

    •     Hitler won the Holocaust, too..
    •   You need to stop eating those funny mushrooms before wondering around in the woods like that. You could get lost! Lol
    • No, not morels (at least not here), but I saw two different species of mushrooms on a little walk through a local woods: the "orange peel fungus" (aleuria aurantia) and one little brown mushroom that I couldn't identify.  The season isn't that far away!!

    • Weather around the state has and will continue its fickle behavior as we close out an exceptionally warm week and move toward a significantly cooler weekend. Rain and snow are predicted across the state, with temperatures expected to fall rapidly Friday into Saturday, leading many to wonder if any of this precipitation will stick around long enough to revitalize the snowmobile and ski trails. Currently snowmobile trails remain open in a few northern counties, but conditions are very poor with bear spots and some standing water according to the Wisconsin Department of Tourism's Snow Conditions Report (exit DNR). Ski trails have similar conditions where they remain open.Eagles are congregating along the Mississippi River just in time for Bald Eagle Appreciation Days at Prairie du Chien this weekend.Photo Credit: Donna HigginsThe warm front has also strongly effected ice-cover on state water bodies and anglers are also eagerly waiting to see what the weekend's cold front will provide. The ice on southern lakes is deteriorating fast and is unsafe to fish. Even in the Northwoods some waters are breaking up and where the ice is still thick there is plenty of water on it, and areas of open water have started to show up along shorelines and in marshes and especially around beaver lodges. As a result, many anglers have taken advantage of warm temperatures for open water fishing. This past weekend 100 plus boats were fishing the Fox River from the 172 Bridge to the dam at Voyageur Park. Anglers in boats have been having mixed results catching coho salmon and brown and rainbow trout in the Milwaukee Harbor and in Oak Creek. Anglers were open water fishing the Rock River for walleye and sauger, where the bite was on at the Indianford Dam. Sauger and walleye were biting on Lake Wisconsin. Warm temperatures and rain will have the Wisconsin River back above flood stage this weekend. .
    •   My two cents... if you use vinyl you will never have to replace it again. When is the water ever going to hit it and STAY moist? That is what carpet does, vinyl will allow the water to roll right off.
