mr d
looking to use a portable this season to scout out some new area(s).I plan to have cleats on. does carpet work or a fake floor. I don't want to slip and be part of the structure.
mnmuzzleloader
all I spear is out of a portable, and have never worried about slipping in the spear hole. I would say not to worry about it. Just be carefully when you slide the house over the hole and keep the slush off the floor and you should be good to go.
bassNspear
I have always used carpet. Sucks up the water and you will never slip.
merkman
I have heard of people putting black plastic between the framework and the fabric on portables to darken them up and still keep them light weight too. I am not sure if that works good or not.

JimP
I spear out of a Otter medium. I've tried sitting on the seat that runs the length of the tub and also sitting on a folding chair placed on the ice. I find the chair is more comfortable. mr d
i have the same set up. I too think it would be safer to exit the side vs stepping over the hole.
bassNspear
thats a great point.I have my whole on the oppisite side of the door. The door would be to my back, so i never had to step over the hole.
Gordie
I have two of the tree perm houses painted black inside and it makes a difference
bassNspear
ya it does. Thats why its very important to check the canvas at the store with all the lights on before you take it home. You will know right there when you zipper the door closed, if the canvaz is not dark enough.Very important.
