Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

A little confused by this as well considering they said part of the reason for doing this was to help alleviate travel for people. Last time I checked La Crosse and Prairie Du Chien are just as far or further than most of the lakes they have used. Bunch of [PoorWordUsage] if you ask me.

Its probably less travel for me in Lakeville. They did this because they did not have enough anglers in either division to make a profit, so this is them trying to combine them to drive up numbers. That is the only schedule with that disclaimer, so if they do not get their permits, you may see a MN/WI lake or two get into the mix

why are all these tournament circuts getting smaller and smaller year after year. I was talking to a great friend of mine that is in the FLW Walleye Circut, and they are having a huge problem of getting there 150 anglers they need to fill it up year after year.

I can understand if they arn't getting enough anglers to make it into one division but i can't see why they always have to run to the river. There is 5 tournament that could be spread out all over the place to make it equal for everyone to travel to. I'm cool with fishing the river ones but not for all 5 events. The schedule look very similar to the BFL!!!

As far as getting enough anlgers go i think there are a lot of different things going on there. Gas prices i think are the biggest problem!!!! There are so many people going out trying to start there own tournament circut just because they dont like something in the other one or they don't want to travel and want to fish there home waters always. BNS did you talk to Dan?

I'm willing to bet if they keep the 5K to win money the numbers will be better then they've had. I for one like the schedual. There's alot of guys in MN and WI that LIKE fishing the river. All the talk about the "extra driving" and "having to fish the river" is petty funny.

Its not that i don't like fishing the river i just don't see the point in having ALL the events on it!!! Fishing the river and fishing a natural lake are two different style of fishing!!! With this style of tournament with the money involved i think they should have events on both the river and lakes.

Personaly I hate the river and will not participate. I do agree that it is a $$$ thing. At Vermillion one of the guys that run it said there was a chance it may be cancelled for 2009. Obviously not the case. Good luck to all that fish it.

P.S Good luck Rich. Hope to see you at the classic. smile

Here is what i got back from ABA... I like how they emailed me back first thing this morning!!! Show they care about there angler and check there email...

ABA ran into to some major permit issues in the state of MN in 2008.

We had to make a change to help alleviate this or we would be forced to leave the area completely. Instead of leaving we are moving all of the events to the MS River until such a time that the permits allow for more than 75 boats and there is also the cost issue of the permits themselves.

If we were allowed to grow MN to a much larger field we would not have to make this move at all. We know how loyal the MN anglers have continued to be and we believe this is only viable solution at this time.

We need together as a group find a friend in the MN Legislator and work with them to help us fight this issue.

We are always available for your comments, thoughts and suggestions.

Our strength is in numbers and your support will help us grow the division instead of forcing us to leave the area.

Have a great day!

Thanks,

When it comes down to it, they did not have enough anglers in either division for them to keep running both, so they had to try something new, this is better then canceling one or both divisions, this may not have been the best logic on their part, but they are trying to make it work. I give them credit there. They have made some good & bad decisions in their 4 year existance. I think the payouts are very equal in both Weekend Series and BFL, as long as Weekend Series can get a few more boats and the $5 is nice, ecspecially if you do not run a Ranger for the BFL's.

I will fish them again and might try to fish a couple BFL's as well. And Pherris, I hope to see me at the Classic as well smile

    • Been there done that . I have 2 CGI s and 1 Wright Mcgill Tony Roach ( Eagle Claw) . When I set them up outside the wind would spool the line off and of course get snagged in the nut holding the spool in place. I made a brass rod about 3 in with a loop on the end and fastened to the reel. I run the line through the loop. It helps quite a bit. The drag is another matter.
    • third season coming up for my #8's.  Once in a great while I might wrap on the button but very rare. My pointer finger keeps the line in place. Free spool??  I aint got time for that, LOL.
    • Taking tomorrow off...  We will see what happens as this front pushes in.  Hopefully it gets something on its feet.
    • Just wondering what people use for portable chairs. Bucket, fold up, tripod, etc. Been looking at some nice fold up chairs with a padded swivel seat. But they are 11 pounds each. I want to stay as light as possible. I also have a tripod chair but don't really like a post riding up my crotch.
    • I like my Eagle Claw. My only gripe is that because there is no hole for the line to go through it will come over the OD of the main spool and get wrapped around the release button. Then I end up having to loosen the button until it comes off. The line will then be free and then have to put the button back on and re-tighten it. I like the composit material because it is not cold to the touch when using bare hands. I also use my finger as a drag to control the free spooling. Sometimes it will spin too fast let out too much line.
    • that's part of the reason I didn't jump on this one cause I thought you yanking a chain or two...
    • There's a few good videos on the tube for ideas.
    • You sound like a BBQ fence sitter to me....
    • Buddy and I each have a Bearcat and we're looking to ditch the handhelds and mount a GPS/Depthfinder unit behind the windshield.  Anyone have any tips?  What units did you use? (seems like Helix's are common) I'd also like to mount a lightbar somewhere on the front for improved lighting.  My auger cradle up front blocks the headlight somewhat and it sure would be nice to have a really bright light up front at night.  I was thinking maybe mount it somewhere on the cradle (it's steel and then I'm not ruining my sled hood) and then have a quick disconnect somewhere on the wiring in case I want to ride without the auger/cradle on. Pictures + ideas appreciated!
    •  It's been many years since I've shot my black powder gun and is very clean  but I'm thinking I'd like to take it out this year and deer hunt. I used to shoot a ball  and would probably like to do that  for hunting  It's been so long so I'm a little bit rusty. I used to get black powder in Superior Wisconsin  but the store that I used to get it at no longer carries it.  Does anybody know any place within driving distance to  get black powder or could I order it through the mail?  Before I take it out and shoot it I need to have the accessories to clean it.  Many years ago when I used to shoot it a lot, are used to have a tube that would connect to the nipple or I would take the nipple off and reconnect another one and draw water through that to clean it.  Can you believe I've forgotten how this procedure is done?   Thanks to all that reply
