whats wrong with your boat?

Recommended Posts

with openeing weekend behind us what did you find not working? and what did you forget to bring?

couple things in our group first morning broke and alligator clip for the electric start, did not bring my GPS and I sorta got turned around (foggy as #@LL). and my brother forgot to bring his calls the the second morning. left went to load up the boat and realized we lost a running boat and also forgot we were missing a center roller, ususallt hjave a fire extingusher (sp) but figured we were not running the heater so no biggy just seen it was missing.

worked on the boat for a few hours yesterday to get it 100% went to menards bpought a 2x4, roll of carpet, and glue $12

slapped them on called a couple boat dealers to find the roller and found one $10. and I also raised the bunks and rollers a lil to make the boat load easier.

I have an old outboard that is called a cheif and its a free-air outboard and the fuel line clamp broke on the way out to the spot that we hunt so it was a lot of fanageling to get out and back but once it was fixed it runs like a swiss watch.

boat still has the same small leak as last year no big deal its in the water all day and less than a gallon to take out.

I have yet to set up the blind on my big flat bottom just using my 10fter for now.

Been running mine for weeks now, fine tuned the blind, moved the fuel and battery up front, wired in a bilge pump, I'm ready.

Just been field hunting thus far, so I haven't used it in application yet, but soon......very soon. smile

    • I just got back from a work trip to MI. I could not believe the difference in ground cover. We traveled all the way from Dearborn back to Bemidji heading through the U.P.  Most of MI had very little ground cover but WI was flush, green everywhere! I only got to check a few spots at rest areas but I never saw a thing. The ground was dry at most spots on the way home. I'm gonna go hit my spot tomorrow, hopefully it hasn't been picked yet!
    • love those when ya see them!!!
    • Took the kayak crappie fishing opening weekend and when calm always bring with the DSLR with. These turtles are glad the weather has finally consistently warmed up. I always find it funny seeing turtles stacked on top of each other and found a few along with multiple species which was nice.
    • I was going to hunt wi this weekend but fishing musky with my fly rod is what I will do instead.  Good luck!!!!!!!
    • Anyone still at it?   not sure that i will get Isaac out anymore, will still ask these last few days.   Good luck everyone.
    • Haha, sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders and great perspective, Borch.  Plus, I think it's good to be upset about missing!  It motivates a guy to take more selective shots and make better shots.  My shot selection was ok, but my execution was not good.  I made a good shot at a stationary target, but the target was walking.  D-U-M, dumb!!!  Such is life!  Next year Morgan and I will shoot turkeys (as long as I can still get her out there).
    • From what I read the idiot did not tell anybody....was asked to play in the World's and declined saying his wrists hurt so they made him go in and found the torn tendons...what a duffus.
    • It reminds me if the first year I took my son turkey hunting.  He had several close calls but didn't get a bird.  He was upset.  I said, "Why are you upset?  We got to hunt together for several days and had several exciting encounters.  If you shot one the first day we would have missed all that fun together"  He thought about it for a while and he smiled.  The older I get, the less its about the kill.  Reframing what I thought success was has added to my hunts.  Now, if I could get less upset when I miss a bird I'd have it all figured out.
    • Excellent.  Nicely done.
