Catmendo
I stumbled across these little gems the other day. They're called "Closed Gentian" and although somewhat rare, they may be found across southern Canada to Virginia. The flower does not open, thus the name "Closed" Gentian, but they're still very pleasing to the eye! look for them in low lying, wet area's. I found these growing along an old drainage ditch, next to a poplar & willow swamp.
Steve Foss
Great shots, Stu. Interestingly enough, finnbay and I ran into some closed gentian when we were out a coupla weeks ago. It was the first I'd ever seen.
