Gel cell vs wet cell

snoozebutton

Question

Is a gel cell battery worth the extra money?

I want to add a second battery to the back of my boat so I can move the bilge pump, live well pump, locater, and lights to a separate battery so I don't have to worry about enough juice to start the motor.

From what I've heard, a gel cell is lighter and would last a lot longer, just wondering if that's worth the extra money. Or are there more advantages that I don't know about?

Thanks

If size is a determining factor for your application, the gell will be smaller and durable.

But as a back-up a 27 class duel purpose or deep cycle battery would be far more cost effective and still offer all the performance you should need....and cheaper...by a lot.

$200 vrs.....$89...big differance there for a cheap Sweede like me. smile
