Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Late Summer Perching

Recommended Posts

Got a call from "Z" around 5ish this afternoon and said "Were getting some perch on the Mi Kong want to go?" In a flash I was gone perching rods in hand and plenty of panfish assasins. Didn't take us long to get into them and we caught 41 keepers and I boated two walleyes one legal and a throw back. Not bad for a couple hours fishing. We had a good chop out on the water and we made the move from 1/16 to 1/8 oz. jigs to keep the plastics close to the bottom. Wecaught twice as many with the throwbacks. Had a ball Z and thanks for the call. This is my last week umpiring everything wraps up on Sunday afternoon. heading to the State Fair Saturday with Momma for a Journey, Cheap Trick, Heart concert. Her'e a couple of fast pics from this evening..

Thanks for the on lake update Jay... Things were heating up as we were talking but the heat got to us fast it was flipping hot out there and no matter how cool we tried to get it was too much even with biting perch to take. mad I was about ready to go for a dip before we had enough and bailed... Got the tops of my legs face and neck cooked good. Had a fantastic time with Tuzzy and Z. Z joined us around 10:30 and stayed after we departed. We caught about 20-25 nice big perch and a nice eater walleye for our efforts so on Lake Desert a pretty good day. cool Talked to a guy at the launch that was fishing near us and he only caught one perch, lol. Here's some picks from the trip. Next is a cool down shower and relax until dinner.

Aaron I will look for you and the wife by the beer tent tomorrow Bub..

Gerat job guys. I seen you at the concert, but it was too loud to get your attention. We were right above the stair way. It was a good show. The wife got too see Heart, and I have to say they put on a good show. I was a little dissappointed with Cheap Trick. And Journey did a great job. The new singer sounds just like Steve Perry.

Yeah Heart was real good, but I didn't see much of Journey because this girl and her toothless friends stood in front of us and just would not sit down, after three times asking they paid the ultimate price and brought home the the minty smell of Longhorn on there backsides of blue there jeans the boyfriend was so trashed he through up his hands witha 1/3 of a cup of beer and nailed me in the shorts with it. When I told him what hedid he tried to hug me and say he was sorry... wrong move as I threw a 1/3 of cup of beer on his shorts. Other than that it was great time and watching Joan Jett was pretty cool too earlier in the day...

That stinks! We has a toothless wack job over by us, but he was far enough away not to bother us. The woman in front of me wouldn't sit down during Journey, but I didn't mind her much! whistlewink

Tood and I played hookie today looking for some perch and didn't find many at all. We started early and caught a few crappies and a couple of nice sunnies and found a few small whie bass. Still good to be out on the water instead of being at work. Wind was out of the east early in the morning and flipped south east. Conditions were over cast and spotty rain all morning. Water temp has dropped about 8 degrees since last weekend so were getting there. Took a few photo's...

    • Been there done that . I have 2 CGI s and 1 Wright Mcgill Tony Roach ( Eagle Claw) . When I set them up outside the wind would spool the line off and of course get snagged in the nut holding the spool in place. I made a brass rod about 3 in with a loop on the end and fastened to the reel. I run the line through the loop. It helps quite a bit. The drag is another matter.
    • third season coming up for my #8's.  Once in a great while I might wrap on the button but very rare. My pointer finger keeps the line in place. Free spool??  I aint got time for that, LOL.
    • Taking tomorrow off...  We will see what happens as this front pushes in.  Hopefully it gets something on its feet.
    • Just wondering what people use for portable chairs. Bucket, fold up, tripod, etc. Been looking at some nice fold up chairs with a padded swivel seat. But they are 11 pounds each. I want to stay as light as possible. I also have a tripod chair but don't really like a post riding up my crotch.
    • I like my Eagle Claw. My only gripe is that because there is no hole for the line to go through it will come over the OD of the main spool and get wrapped around the release button. Then I end up having to loosen the button until it comes off. The line will then be free and then have to put the button back on and re-tighten it. I like the composit material because it is not cold to the touch when using bare hands. I also use my finger as a drag to control the free spooling. Sometimes it will spin too fast let out too much line.
    • that's part of the reason I didn't jump on this one cause I thought you yanking a chain or two...
    • There's a few good videos on the tube for ideas.
    • You sound like a BBQ fence sitter to me....
    • Buddy and I each have a Bearcat and we're looking to ditch the handhelds and mount a GPS/Depthfinder unit behind the windshield.  Anyone have any tips?  What units did you use? (seems like Helix's are common) I'd also like to mount a lightbar somewhere on the front for improved lighting.  My auger cradle up front blocks the headlight somewhat and it sure would be nice to have a really bright light up front at night.  I was thinking maybe mount it somewhere on the cradle (it's steel and then I'm not ruining my sled hood) and then have a quick disconnect somewhere on the wiring in case I want to ride without the auger/cradle on. Pictures + ideas appreciated!
    •  It's been many years since I've shot my black powder gun and is very clean  but I'm thinking I'd like to take it out this year and deer hunt. I used to shoot a ball  and would probably like to do that  for hunting  It's been so long so I'm a little bit rusty. I used to get black powder in Superior Wisconsin  but the store that I used to get it at no longer carries it.  Does anybody know any place within driving distance to  get black powder or could I order it through the mail?  Before I take it out and shoot it I need to have the accessories to clean it.  Many years ago when I used to shoot it a lot, are used to have a tube that would connect to the nipple or I would take the nipple off and reconnect another one and draw water through that to clean it.  Can you believe I've forgotten how this procedure is done?   Thanks to all that reply
