Paul_Kramer
I know that when you break off just the tip you can stick a new one on, but when you break off a foot or more, is there a way to stick the broken part back on? I've never heard of a way; was just wondering if anyone here knows how. Thanks!
JohnMickish
Unfortunatly, no. If you put some kind of sleeve over the splice to strenghten in you would totally ruin the action of the rod. Your better off getting a new one.
upnorth
Actually the sleeve does work pretty well. What you want is to make the sleeve from a scrap blank that fit just over the broken section. You want the sleeve to be about 3/4" on either side of the break. You glue it in place then you wrap fine thread over it for strength. Now you are not going to go through all this for a Wally World rod, but if you have a high end rod the warranty is out on...well then this may be just the ticket. Here is a picture of a repaired rod. rodmaker
First of all , what kind of rod was it. If was a G. Loomis or St. Croix they have an awesome warranty.
