Upcoming Full Moon thoughts

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering what some of your guys's thoughts are for the full moon on Saturday. I'm headed back home and was going to fish West Battle Lake. As much as I hate to leave the Bemidji area on the upcoming full moon, I think West Battle should produce a fish or two. Does anyone get on this body of water much? Let me know! Best of luck to you all.

Hopefully RK will chime in as he had interesting comments on this in March in his seminar at the Expo in Blaine.

Yes, it's an opportune time, but everyone (us) sees it that way, and the pressure from anglers is way up. Point being other factors weather related can be as much of a trigger, they just don't become active this sole time of the month. The solunar charts don't tell the fish to go to a certain location at a certain time. Stack the odds and don't just bank on a window, as other factors will alter it. Don't simply follow the crowd either....

That said, I'll be on Mille Lacs this weekend, but looking to find the window within the window, if that makes sense.

Good points Cjac! Plus, with the way this season has gone, who knows what these fish are going to do. From my perspective, and that of many others, this is just a wacky year for Muskies. Pick your spots, and don't be afraid to go against the grain. Something different than the other guy might be exactly what the fish are looking for!

yikes - leaving Bemidji for WBL - we did find some nice fish on WBL at the end of june in the cabbage around the holes in the west basin. i personally think they move a bit shallower than you'd expect when they want to eat, sand, inside edge stuff, so that's what I would key on if I was fishing WBL this weekend. despite the way that lake treats me sometimes it's hard not to go back, wish i had a few solid nights to put in there. good luck

Yep, I'll be in the middle of a week long Vermillion trip. I'm sure there won't be many people out on Sat. with the full moon...

    • Good job!  I have never found any Blacks so they look a little different.  Can you take a picture of what they look like cut in half? They look a little scary like False Morel's
    • I picked for about 2 hours this morning. I'm not exactly haw many I got but its enough for a couple meals. I'm going to chop some of these up and mix with some cream cheese, feta cheese and garlic chives and then stuff some chicken breasts and cook them on the grill. The little bit of rain that we got last week helped the shrooms pop but it really didn't do much else for the woods besides help the mosquito's hatch. There were so many they licked the bug spray off first then swarmed. I found the mushrooms all over, North, South, East and West facing hills. Normally spot 1 has the best results but this trip it was my second spot. All of them had pretty good size too. Only a few that were in direct sunlight were dried up otherwise they are very firm. Spot 1 is the left container. Don't worry, I use a mesh bag while I'm out in the woods!
    • Yup.... 6 & 4 for Lead.... 4 & 2 for steel
    • I ended up framing my house, putting on the T&G , and then spray foaming back against the interior, which may be why I am not seeing any movement... I also used pine vs cedar
    • I agree with the guy who agreed with the other guy.
    • Just wait till they come up with the remote submarine drone with 3d high resolution camera that can see through algae and milfoil and transmit to your eyewear in 3d.   I struggle with properly tying a berkley knot......
    • I agree with rundrave. #4 early and #2 shot later in year
    • Yes, 5/16 T&G I installed last fall. I did the same, but I see this summer it's starting to buckle
    • Adding a 4th wouldn't do much IMO. The map screen is already too small to be useful when screen is split in 3. I added a Helix 7 G2N to use as a map screen. Networked with other 2 units
    • I could always go and spend more money on an additional unit but some of it is like Floyd said. I have a hard enough time watching one screen. I have the app on my phone. I think that lowrance has the ability to split the screen into 4. I just can't believe I'm the only person who would like to see this but maybe I am. It may not be as big a deal once I get more familiar with the unit. Right now I like to look at all the screens to help discern what it is im seeing on the screen.  I appreciate the input!
