finnbay
I've watched hummingbirds chase each other around many times. I just got done watching a hummer harass a chickadee for almost ten minutes. I have a flat feeder for seeds that the chickadee was trying to feed from, but whenever it would get close, a female hummer would dive bomb it and chase it away. I could see it chasing the chickadee through the trees and brush, then the hummer would come back and sit on a branch above the feeder. The chickadee would come back and the hummer would chase it away again. In the meantime, there were many siskens, purple finches and nuthatches that came to the feeder that the hummer ignored. Strange!
Steve Foss
Pound for pound, easily the most aggressive bird species I've ever seen.
