Patching Gore-Tex Clothes

5 posts in this topic

I went to the Cabela's sidewalk sale this weekend and bought a pair of snowpants that have a 3/4 inch tear in them. They have a carbon lining and gore-tex. I don't care if they let any scent out, but I would like to make sure it's waterproof when I'm done. Anyone know where I could find waterproof fabric or how to keep the patch from leaking at the seams?

Gore-tex does make a repair kit, they sell it at Cabela's. It goes on the inside and repairs the membrane keeping the waterproofing intact.

If the tear isn't in too critical an area (crotch, knee, etc) I would use a evenly spread blotch of sportsmans GOOP. The stuff's amazing at sealing up small holes and stopping a broken thread from unraveling. It will definitely be waterproof when you're done. I've also used it to re-cover the toes of my Rocky boots after the mfr coating wore off. Great stuff!

Hey I hit the tents also! Bought a pair of 120$ waders for 18$, knowing that I could fix them with a little dab of AQUASEAL.

Aquaseal works. Any question email me.

I bought the snowpants for $20. The tag said they normally sold for $259. I got a hell of a deal now that I know how to fix the tear. Thanks guys!
