Anyone know what is going on with Dubay being out for so long? Seems like everyone is hush hush about it too.

I don't know, haven't heard him on the radio for a while though. I would love to know what's up. PA kinda makes it sound like he's on vacation, but hasn't it been a good couple of weeks?

About the only thing I have heard PA say is he will be back the 2nd week in Aug.

Much better show without him IMO.

He went through a divorce recently, and that junk can catch up on you, especially when you are a public persona.

Give the man a break. They are a good duo - they have a nice thing going.

I think PA has some real talent and a great work ethic. Do you realize he's at the track just about every night in the summer announcing?

Dubay (IMO) just doesn't have the skills compared to other major market radio personalities. I would consider him a sidekick at best. When PA is out, the show suffers tremendously.

I agree with you Dtro, but I've heard "Summer of Stun" about 80 million times too many. PA needs to come up with some new catch phrases.

I heard Dubay got deathly sick from overdosing on the Minnesota sports Kool-Aid and had to go into rehab for CDS....Chronic Denial Syndrome.

Now if we can just get rid of Paul Allen along with Dubay, the PA and Dubay show will be much better! grin

Give the Common Man the 9-2pm slot!!

Exactly. I'd rather soak my teeth in kerosene and light them on fire than listen to the Common man.

I'd rather wrestle an alligator in a phone booth, than listen to the Common man.

I'd rather have a rabid marmot attack my lower extremities than listen to the Common man...

Other than that - he's ok, I guess. LOL

Dan Cole is a whole lot more entertaining than Tom Mischke on KSTP 1500,who air's in the same time slot.Common's bit does get a bit redundant, but does have the sports in it, to a point.Mischke is, well, you fill in the blank...

Too bad there isn't anything else on the radio during that time slot to listen to.

I realy like Mischke. Best lead up to GL that that station has had in years. A break from reality in the middle of the day. What can be wrong with that.

No offense to any one else, but that guy is too off the wall for me.Some of his phone conversations with folks make me go, 'what the $#&% is this guy on the radio for?' Just my opinion, doesn't have to be anyone elses. KFAN is on my dial until Garage Logic airs. Sorry for hijacking the thread here, with the Mischke reference.

Love em or hate em you listen to em all on the FAN. Common can be pretty funny, but he does get depressing. He loves sports and teams and hates em at the same time...all part of the bit I guess.

PA is talented but that guy would push his grandma out of the way for a dollar. Can you trust anything the guy says? Despite being plugged into the sports landscape we all know how his prognostication has been going...

Dubay-totally agree with what others have said. Struggles on his own.

Every personality on the FAN has things I don't like and things I do.

Star-funny but sophomoric.

Sludge-Immature and shallow but can be funny in a childish way

Barreiro-probably the one I like the most. Interesting guests and tastes but can go off on certain topics for no reason.

Hartman-let someone else get a word in, is never wrong. Not the overrunning 'homer' so many other MN media types are.

If you have it in you to give Common about 6 months his show is will become entertaining. Not as good as it was a few years back but still good IMO. Half of what he talks about are old bits and inside jokes for those that have been listening for years. He is an acquired taste. The one I can't handle is Hartman. I would rather listen to his Dad. At least you can laught him.

I feel the same exact way about Common and Hartman.

I hated Common at first, but now I actually enjoy his show, I sometimes find myself laughing out loud while eating lunch.

Having listened for years, I have few thoughts on the subject...

Chad Hartman - Did a friend in the business get this guy a job or what?? You probably can't find a better example of "It's not what you know, but who you know" out there. This guy doesn't belong out in public, much less on the radio. A little game I play is to try and change the station before his bumper music starts. This has involved such things as diving for the radio (on more than one occasion), and my favorite, once I chucked a hammer in the nick time and ka-pow! That was a close one. Too bad nobody was around to witness my magnificent save executed to perfection.

Ducky & Bunny - I'm in agreement here with what everyone else has said, S.T.A.L.E. Including PA pushing over his g'ma for a dollar. After a while of listening, you just start to see them for who/what they are. 'The truth comes out' I guess you could say. Lately, I feel like I'm just listening to a 3 hour long commercial. A rarely thought provoking, but occasionally entertaining one. I do like PA's occasional reference to local places though, as they're usually places I'm familiar with.

Common - For most who like him, it didn't start out that way- and they weren't shy about it. At least that's what I've found. Personally, I've never not liked him. If he could occasionally sprinkle in some seriousness/insight/sincerity into the serious matters it would go a long ways for him.

Barreiro - The most solid of the bunch. Well spoken and usually gets to the heart of the matter. I don't always agree with him but he let's you know where he stands, without 'Hartmaning-up' at every turn. His topics are usually somewhat interesting and his Friday, Done as a Society segment is usually entertaining.

They could put Sludge and Lake on for 4 hrs in the afternoon and I'd be happy.

Can't stand Common, I've tried listening to him time and time again and can't get into it. He's an one-who-thinks-I-am-silly and I have no clue what he's doing on the radio. I usually flip it over to Jim Rome or just turn music back on.

    • Oh yeah, a lot of the newer 1/2 tons have frame rust issues as well.  If you want a serious off-road machine, you need to go back to the models with the straight front axles, and of course, they're getting harder to find in decent shape too.  Especially in the rust belt.  You can still find solid older trucks if you head west, young man...
    • Just to be clear- The wrangler wasn't introduced until 87 so at least compare apples to apples and having owned ford, chevy and dodge trucks of the Wrangler era I can testify they all have issues. My 08 Ram had more frame and fender rust than my older Jeep. The Chevy's have plenty of frame issues as well. Yes. It's a concern but if you want something like this, there is no better alternative.   https://www.google.com/search?q=chevy+frame+rust+problems&client=opera&hs=Lrs&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjAnPz1kMrTAhVpw4MKHSs9B1UQ_AUICigB&biw=800&bih=381
    •   Good questions. You have 3 body style configurations to choose from.  The YJ body was made from 87-97 and that had either a 4 cyl or an inline 6. It had leaf springs and a pretty spartan interior IMO. Some serious off roaders liked the leaf springs but they rode pretty rough IMO.   I feel the 4 cyl is anemic especially with bigger tires. The 4.0 inline 6 is bulletproof, has decent torque and power and fits the Jeep about perfectly. In the YJ series the manual transmission seemed like a better option in my experience.   The TJ ran from 98-06. This version replaces leaf springs with coil over shocks. Mine is an 06 and has the dana rear with the 4.0 and auto trans. I have BFG AT KO 32x10s and on gravel they have taken out 2 side mirrors by throwing rocks at them.    I prefer the TJ series. It has better suspension and interior than the YJ while keeping the original drive train. Fuel economy pretty much sucks as you are essentially driving a brick. I probably get about 12 MPG. If they had done a diesel I would think the wrangler could get 30 but...   The JK series replaced the TJ and was a pretty radical redesign. The body is wider, the drivetrain is totally different and the interior was upgraded quite a bit as well. They went to a pentastar V6 instead of the inline 4.0. trans was upgraded as well. They also started to sell the 4 door unlimited which gives more interior space as well. The new ones are much more civilized and refined which is great for taking the top off and driving to the lake or beach. OTOH they are expensive and harder to justify taking off the top and heading into the woods to hunt or find mud.
    • Yes, you do have to have at least a weak cell signal and battery for the GPS to work. I know that can be challenging at times in the woods.
    •   Not sure about the new V6, but the old inline 6 was bulletproof, and had a lot of low end torque, which is a desirable feature in an off-road vehicle.       Any 1/2 ton pickup truck from the 70's and early 80's in particular, had a much better frame than a Jeep.  Body panels rust in all of them.   Not saying this is a deal-breaker for a Jeep, just something to watch for, since it is a very common problem.
    • After doing a little looking there are a lot of options to these things. Anyone know how that new V6 compares to the in line 6? Some of the stuff I would like is the bigger tires and because I would consider putting a plow on it a lower rear end gear. The Dana 44 rear axel would be nice and would want a hard and soft top. I'm in no hurry to get one so Ill wait till the right one comes around. There are a lot of them out there that never leave the tar. More options in the later models as far as transmissions to. So it also comes down to how much I want to spend on one and how late of a model to buy. Sure don't want to spend 35K on a new one.
    • Well yeah but can you name a vehicle built for off road including any domestic pickup truck that doesn't have issues with rust. Fenders, rockers, frames etc. If you play in the mud and salt you need to maintain them. UTVs are no different. Ask yourself why Polaris would put the air filter canister intake in the rear wheel well so it is sucking in the air from the dustiest area they could possibly draw it from resulting in a 4k bill when the motor grenades.    Jeeps are fun, used ones can be had at a reasonable price but by their nature you need to be careful when you purchase because if the previous owner drove them the way they were marketed then they may have some issues.   But the aftermarket has an amazing amount of mods, upgrades and accessories to make your Jeep into anything you want and because the generally go 10 years between major design changes there are a large number of parts available if you need them.
    • Anyfish it's still points and way better than a zero for points! Congrats on the fine eating bird.
    • Pick up a Jake morning.  Not going help the team score, if at all.  But it sure will taste good.
