Retriever Training Class in MN

Recommended Posts

Anyone know of a retriever training class or 1 on 1 sessions available anywhere around the cities. I am working on training my pup by myself but would like some assistance in the more refined areas such as steady to gunfire, birds/live birds?

I live in Hanover and would possibly be interested. I am new to this though so would not provide any experience, just looking to gain. Let me know if anything gets going, my pup should be back in two weeks from training.

I live in Roseville, and have been just looking to see if anyone else knows of any classes or thing I could sign up for to help me in my training.

I am not looking for a dog that can win competitions but one that I can take hunting with me and it will retrieve my birds to me after I give it the command to go.

I can't remember the name but there is a class for pups that teaches obediance, hold, retrieve (land and water with gun shot), ect around the Monticello area. It's off of hyw 94...you go past a truck stop down a dirt road....they meet once a week. I will try and see if I have any old records of it and give you the name. I found this class when I was at game fair (5 years ago). I know that there will be opportunites at game fair for dog training and meeting dog trainers too. An option if you are not having any luck finding something.

    • Here are a couple of pics of ducks nesting in tree cavities. We have a goldeneye and a hooded merganser.
    • Spring is exploding right into summer across Wisconsin. You would never know that just three weeks ago the Northwoods was covered with ice and snow. Memorial Day weekend kicks of the unofficial start to summer and many of the reservable campsite at state parks and forests are booked. The best remaining camping opportunities can be found in the non-reservable campsites in northern state forests. The lower Wisconsin River continues to run high, but there were signs of sandbars beginning to emerge in some areas as water slowly drops.Universe in the Park astonomy program begins this weekend with program at Blue Mound and Kohler-Andrae state parks.Photo credit: UW-Madison Dept. of AstronomyFields and forests have greened up, and regular rains have kept fire danger low to moderate across most of the state with just a few areas still in high fire danger. Through the spring fire season 639 wildfires burned 1,800 acres; 53 structures were destroyed and another 441 were threatened, but saved.Wisconsin's northern zone musky season opens this Saturday and spring fish assessments are showing they won't be disappointed with what they find, with many fish over 40 inches netted and released. .

    • Definitely blacks.  I haven't hit my blacks spot yet but matbe this weekend.
    • Had a decent breeze last night so wasn't too bad.
    • I would be out a morning or two if I still had the tag.   Afternoons must be a sauna in a blind.   We hunted in shorts and t-shirts in early May and were still hot when afternoon temps reached around 82 - 85 degrees.
    • Remember to get those birds entered!  I know there are more out there.
    • Well wondering if anyone is going to be out in the heat for the last turkey season.  I was out last night and just needed a nice strutter to get a bit closer.   I moved the blind to his entry/exit point.   He didn't want to follow the hen when she walked by my blind twice.   He stayed on the high ground in the field. Hoping for better results.
    • Game 6 of Caps and Lightning was fun to watch, even though the lightning got shut out.  Ove was a beast, really fun to watch him play like that.   Good for the Caps, I think they can nuetralize the speed of Vegas, they have some hard hitters on the team.  Hopefully Ove can kiss the cup.
    • Vegas vs Caps, we all saw that coming.
