Trouble breathing????

7 posts in this topic

I have a springer about 10 yrs old. Yesterday she was panting like it was extremely hot out. She would not quit. Last night she was snoring louder than normal and this morning she started in with the panting again.

I was thinking that she might have a summer cold as she was coughing a couple of times the other night but the panting has me worried.

She is healthy and other than the panting and she acts normal. IE: wags her tail and comes when she is called.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

Thx,

Mike

The wife checked on the dog at lunch and decided to take her to the Doggy emergency room. Turns out she has a cyst (sp) on the inside of her throat. They have her sedated until we here from the radiologist to determine what to do.

Thanks guys,

The vet did a biopsy (sp)of the growth in her throat, they are leaning towards cancer. They gave us some meds to keep her calm to assist in her breathing.

She seems her normal self with the exeption of the panting.

We'll have to wait and see what happens.

Mike

    • Yah - great looking decoys! MJ - I'm just letting you know I'm breaking into your house and stealing your spear rack.  And mount. I found a rickety old 5 tine when I cleaned out the garage.  I might give it a try this season.
    • I can't identify any of those for sure, and certainly wouldn't recommend eating any of them.  The first pic might be some older honey mushrooms, but it's pretty tough to tell.  I've got about 8 mushrooms that I can positively id.  Beyond that, it's just not worth being wrong.  There are still some fresh hen of the woods mushrooms around the metro if you get out into some oak woods.  You can find them around the base of big mature oaks and they are pretty easy to identify.  Found about 20 on Wednesday.  Many were a little old, but was able to take 4 nice ones home.  Here's a pic of one that I left behind.

    • Kind of like Trump did Monday night.

    • Looks like it's unanimous then. Good thing my vote goes to Hillary since it seems everyone thinks she is the best person for the job.
    • In your situation I'd try to be standing around the time you expect the deer to show up since it sounds like your upper body will have branch cover but not lose drawing ability. I usually set up off to the side and a little behind the tree from the direction I expect the deer to come from.  That way I get the full benefit of the cover of the tree I'm in. I stand a lot though; I rarely sit.  My ears tell me quite a bit but I'm usually looking around that tree all the time and my body is close to it.  I seem to be able to get away with quite a bit of movement and am rarely at 15 feet or higher.
