photo
I was thinking of heading to the Apostle Islands from Duluth the weekend of the 19th. How is fishing near the islands this time of year? I typically fish out of Duluth.Any suggestions would be great!
Fisher_Johnson
Fishing can be good this time of year. For lakers, put your baits on the bottom. Magnum spoons, dodger/flashers and flies or spin-n-glos work great. Also, use divers and leadcore to cover the rest of the water column. You never know when you'll go over some salmon, browns, steelies or suspended lakers. Flashers or small dodgers with flies or spoons and clean standard sized spoons work well for these lines. Good luck if you decide to make the trip.
Jim Hudson
Matt summed it up pretty good.. Fish are now being found in their typical summer patterns and fishing will be more consistant then the past few weeks. For lakers, try your hands out to the flats. Just through the south channel and east of Madeline Island. 95 to 100 FOW is a good bet to get into some fish. Put most baits right on or very near bottom.
