      Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

      Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Hot peppers?

I am growing some hot peppers. Jalapeno, Serrano, Habanero, Hot Bananna and Super Chili's.

My question is how long does it take these to start budding? I've already got Hot bananna and super chilis growing but the Habanero, Serrano & Jalapeno's aren't getting there yet.

We've tried growing Habanero's in Lino for the last couple of years. All direct sun and we only get one or two very late in the season. Maybe it's all of the sand but ours don't grow so well.

I planted four jalapenos at the same time and they appeared to be the same size and from the same stock. One is almost ready to start harvesting, two are about midway, and the fourth is just barely starting to show buds. I thought the fourth one was going to be a dud, but it seems to be coming along, I guess it just takes some patience sometimes.

I just looked today and have one HUGE jalapeno. It's around 3" long now. Can these things grow this fast or did I just miss it?

Also, it seems that the rain/wind yesterday sort of uprooted some of my jalapenos. Can I just push down at the base to re-set them?

Have any of you started picking anything yet? I've got a few hot banana peppers that I think I'm gonna try picking tonight. They're pretty big.

    • Wild playing very well in all facets of the game right now...fun to watch...Toronto is no slouch even without Matthews.
    • And if you went to Italy, they have all that stuff that is bitter.  It is a matter of taste for sure.   BTW, hops is (or was) added to beer as a preservative as well as a flavor.   Personally I don't care for that weird stuff, but do like an IPA on occasion, or a Grain Belt for old time's sake.   
    • Yes. And if you got to the southwest part of the country they have some of the best wine on the planet as well. I was introduced to German beer there in the 80's and it was a learning experience. Bars with room temp kegs and either Dunkel or Licht beer. They know how to do it right.
    • I haven't seen that happen in the collagen casings I have used but if it seems to be an issue maybe try vacuum sealing any left over casings until the next time.
    • I hear ya Dave !  I spent close to 3 years in Germany and drank a lot of different brands of German beer and never had anything taste as bad as an IPA. In our town of around 100,000 we had 3 breweries and if you went 20 miles to another town the odds are you would not find the any of the 3 beers but completely different breweries. 3 beers always for the most part...Weitzen (wheat), Weise ( Normal) and Pils and all only had 4 ingredients and no preservatives. 
    • Mine lasted 5 years, then broke on the lake, but I got two new ones the week before. Lucked out I guess.
    • That's because this is the cooking thread and not Silly Town. Plenty of whining be-oches to argue with over there all day!
    • You guys must have a nicer wife than I've got. By the end of the day I'm worn out from arguing with her and come here for a break. Seems like the opposite on here sometimes. 
    • Yes, we buy the spray cans of olive oil,canola or whatever. I personally haven't tried fish but with breaded chicken I'm not a big fan. It works great when I make wings and non battered chicken. Just my personal experience.
