      Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

      Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

trailer probelm

Question

I can't seem to get my trophy to go on straight. IT is hugging the side and hitting the passenger side guide and fender.

What can i do?

Last week I had an issue getting the boat on straight for the first time ever, and it was because I had the trailer too deep. The back wanted to float over on me.

I place my trailer in the water so the rollers will guide the boat on and the water cannot shift the boat on the trailer.

For roller trailers you do need to be careful about getting in too deep. Let the rollers guide the boat on and it'll go much smoother. The opposite is true for bunk trailers. The boat won't slide on the bunks very easily so they must be submerged but again, too deep may cause some issues because the boat needs to contact the bunks and not just be flaoting over them.

If it is an EZ roller trailer check the rear bank of rollers to insure they are on correctly . My most recent EZ roller had one of the rear bank of rollers on backwards and I went wild trying to figure out why the boat wouldn't load centered . I had a couple Shorelander rollers before and never had a problem .One day at the landing I got to checking and noticed the situation , the bank wouldn't tilt in far enough and would force the boat to the other side . Removed the bolt the unit pivots on , postitioned correctly and wala , it works as it should . Somebody goofed up ...........

The boat is not loading too deep, but that was a good guess.

It just goes on and pushes to the left side. Everything looks to be about the same because I measured it, but I was thinking about moving the left rear (from the back of the motor side rollers) toward the center and see what would do.

I thought about moving it three inches and then see.

Thoughts?

My bad -- I just looked and it IS and "easy loader" -- how can I tell if the rollers are on wrong?

With boat off trailer , push down on the rollers closest to center , they should go way down and should be the same . If you push down on the outside you will notice that they hit the bracket and stop . Make sense? If one of them is installed backwards it will force the boat the other way .

Try this; at rear of trailer facing toward the front, push down on the rollers that are closest to keel, one on each side of center ,they must go toward the ground the same amount . That is where mine had the problem , one would only go part way [the culprit] or a lot less movement than the other . If that is the case , remove the single pivot bolt on the bracket that holds the four rollers , turn the bracket end for end . and then try . They should form a perfect V for the keel , not a lop-sided one .

Bud -- I will try that.

Just spent 2.5 hours at the access trying many combinations of moving rollers -- NO LUCK.

For the heck of it I got out and we hand cranked it all of the way ...

No CHANGE.

I am thinking about bringing it to the dealer -- what do you guys think?

went to the dealer and they told me to move the gback rollers in even more and then keep it a little more out of the water.

They also said the center of the boat is only an inch off. But when I look at the sides they are about 5 inches off.

might as well try it.

Any thoughts?

they also said it will not hurt boat or trailer to be off. Is that true?

Did you maybe hit the trailer into something, tweaking the trailer frame? My parents did that with their trailer, and even squaring the whole trailer back up (they hit something with the axle), it still never loaded right. This spring they had to pony up and buy a new trailer, as the bearing and spindle was completely shot.

It probably wouldn't hurt the boat to be off center a little bit, when when you say 5" that is a lot. I have only had problems with my boat not loading straight at landings when I have had high wind/waves, but just pulled the trailer a little more out of the water, and everything was fine.

I frequently launch and land my boat on my own so it's not uncommon for me to have the boat misaligned on the trailer.....that being said. Lund4ver's comment on pulling the trailer out a bit more than usual has helped me on really windy days, if your boat is light enough to wench up at that angle. Traveling like this shouldn't be a problem for short term trips but I could see uneven tire wear being an issue on a trip to canada. In regards to the 5 inch error, is this from the transom or from the side of the boat? 5 inches off in the back is tolerable for a short trip. Good luck.

Yeah it is a heavy boat (185 trophy) and wind is not the problem. I just thought is was strange that when you look in the center of the trailer it is only off about one inch, but but when you compare each side of the trailer it is off 4-5 inches? I suppose two inches one way will even it out a bit.

It is just hard to believe that having the trailer off will not hurt, according to the "service Professionals"

    • I had to look up this thread before making our purchase.  I saw the NuWave. Power Air Fryer and a Farberware.  We went with the Farberware cuz it was the cheapest for experimenting.     Got it on 400 for 25 minutes now to burn off the manufacturing residues.  Looking forward to getting some chicken wings rubbed down and tossed in that baby!
    • As I write this I am on a ND lake with my kdrill and 750 ft in torque hammer drill.  I have 5 amp/hr batteries and going through 28” of ice I am getting 20 or so holes per battery. 
    • I’m just cranky about my asphalt driveway. I’m on a state highway. Recently a couple Snowmobilers put up directional and yield signs on each side of the driveway entrance near the culverts. The traffic has substantially increased this year. I was so happy to have had the asphalt put down because I use a cane now and could keep it free of ice allowing me to get my own mail in the winter.....not this year. I’m afraid to have it plowed and cleaned. Not only do the snowmobiles pull  the snow back onto the driveway making a new mess everyday, but I’m worried about the asphalt being damaged. They don’t mind digging up the grass so what’s to stop them from driving on it bare? To add insult, a groomer came by this week and groomed even the driveway. I read that guys don’t even drive on their own driveways but mines ok. I can look away from the jumping of my driveway as if you crash, it’s on you...you are disturbing my sleep going the excessive speed to jump it though. can someone help me out? I really don’t want an altercation. I feel if I fell on the ice they’d drive around me or just jump over me. Thanks in advance.
    • The big hawks I have been seeing around this winter, I think are redtails that are hunting metro pidgeons.  I have not personally see the snowy owls myself. 
    •   For sure.  The biggest reason I ever went electric was for cutting holes in the house.  Dollar for dollar I don’t know if you can beat gas for cutting shear numbers of holes.   The improvements made in the past couple years with the cordless drill set ups has been amazing though.  If I had to buy electric again I’d give a good hard look in that direction. 
    • Yeah that’s great but the piggy bank wouldn’t appreciate that I like the ion I’ve used before them before there nice but can’t justify spending  $600 on an electric when I could just by a SM lazer pro and drill as many holes I want. I like electric but amount of holes on a charge is tough to come by without spending a $1000. 
    • Sometimes they’re so pretty you don’t wanna clean em.  I appreciate seeing the pics with clean, dry plumage.  They’re too quick in flight for me to get the full view! 
    • You might get 25-30 holes out of one charge on  40 V Ion in these ice conditions but I wouldn’t count on any more than that.  The Ion X might do better.
    • Not knocking any duck shooters, but have you ever noticed how much prettier birds are in flight than when they are piled up in the mud or on the deck of a boat of tossed in the back of a truck? When you get to be an old guy, with eighty seasons behind you, things like that occur to you. Still love to see them coming in fast to the decoys in early light!
    • i switched cuz the drill is so light and easy on my back and no pulling.  25 to 30 holes is no prob on a battery for my nills and the kdrill with the 9 amp probably much better.
