Top of a swelling cumulonimbus

With all this nasty Midwestern weather and the topic of the month for the photo challenge, a lot of us have been looking at the skies more than usual.

Here was the top of a storm cell as it built into a thunderstorm. The sun was about 15 minutes from setting, and I was struck by the different textures. Sure is a lot of force boiling out of those clouds. It's no wonder pilots avoid them like the plague.

Nice work Steve! Man this is beginning to get real interesting as far as storm cells this year! It looks as though we're headed for another wet years throughout the mid continent...oh well, those "finney" folks love it!
