Why I'm not voting for McCain

129 posts in this topic

Snipped and artfully edited by me from the CNN web site.

John McCain issued a promise Tuesday that may cause a bit of unrest with a broad swath of voters:

He'll veto every single beer?

While railing against excessive earmarks at the National Small Business Summit in Washington, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee inadvertently pledged to veto the popular alcoholic beverage.

"I will use the veto as needed. I will veto every single beer"

OK, so not only will he veto any beer, but he will be appointing Supreme Court justices that share his same view.

[video:youtube]http://thepoliticalcarnival.blogspot.com/2008/06/mccain-i-will-veto-every-single-beer.html

Edit: well I guess you'll just have to cut and past the link as I could not figure it out.

Here I thought it was because he thought Putin was the president of Germany. The guy must be having a senior momement or two out on the trail. First the Sunni/[PoorWordUsage]e confusion and now this. I thought his strength was foreign policy.... I would hate to see where his weaknesses are...

As much as I think he is WAY TOO OLD and about as boring and uninspiring as he is, I'll vote for him long before the folks that think the government should control everything like Healthcare and the like.

I had a lot of admiration for him as well, particularly during the 2000 presidential run. He has really sold out since then to the "Agents of Intolerance" etc.

How did the party of Teddy Roosevelt and Eisenhower get hijacked by these nuts?

Why is everyone against the gov. running health care? They do a good job at defending the country don't they?? They do a good job at monitoring and securing the countrys economy. There is very little turmoil in this country. I can [PoorWordUsage] in my toilet and it goes away. I can boil my water in the morning for coffee. I'm free to hop on 169 and drive to work. Think about it...we already pay for RETIREES, GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES both City,County,Federal, Education, POOR, DISABLED ETC.,. Would it really be that much more to cover. Now I do believe we should have a mechanisim where everyone pays something into the system though.

As a certified, card-carrying beer-lover (you should see my basement) I will vote against McCain. Nine or twenty times.

That "out of touch jerk-bait" spent several years in the Hanoi Hilton, during another unpopular war. As far as understanding POWs, he knows a little more about the thing than most of us on this Board combined.

He's not my guy, politically speaking, but a little respect for someone who has experienced stuff most of us simply can't imagine is in order.

I know we're not supposed to engage in personal attacks, but this time I will make an exception.

You are woefully ignorant, and need a lesson or two on respect, or at least be required to demonstrate a rudimentary understanding of what you are talking about.

Pathetic.

How did the party of Teddy Roosevelt and Eisenhower get hijacked by these nuts?

and how did the party of harry truman and hubert humphrey, the party my folks used to belong to, get hijacked by the likes of barak hussein obama and micheal moore?

i dont care for mccain but as long as obama and his merry band of revolutionaries are on the opposite ticket, i am going to have to vote for mccain. or at least vote against obama

and how is it that BHO gets to tell the press that they cannot talk about his, "friends," they cannot bring up his many gaffes, we cannot talk about his wife's comments, even though she can go out and talk about both mccain and clinton, his far left voting record, his comments about middle american voters, or anything else that could harm him and the press dutifully complies??? what do you think the press would do if mccain tried to tell the press that they cannot bring up his involvement in the Keating 5 or the problems with his wife???

now the democrats are at risk of losing the WH this year with their candidate when they were almost guaranteed to walk right in it because of GWB. they're just as dumb as the GOP

I've said it before for GWB, the lack of respect some people show for ones in office is obsurd. This guy fought for our country and was a POW, something myself or I'm sure you could never imagine. If he want's to joke about it, maybe that's his way of dealing with the nightmares he has for serving you. I haven't watched that video and nor will I. I'm sure I could search youtube as well and find all kinds of junk on Obama as well. Show some respect and some class.

I don't like either candidate either.

I have said it before, and I will say it again; why can't we get one candidate that is any good?

I will vote foe McCain, but it is not really a vote for him. It is a vote against Obama.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

The trolls should start showing up any day now trying to sway the right on this board to vote for Obama. It happens every election. Then the day after the election, they disappear.

Are you serious? I hope you are maxing out your 401K or IRAs.

Welfare, which was designed to be a stop gap, is now reaching out to 4th generation families?

Low Cost Housing Projects?

VA Hospitals?

Social Security Disability? A friend of mine recently died from lung cancer. After working his entire life and contributing 7.65% of his income to S/S, he was unable to collect disability for the 6 months he had left to live in order to pay his insurance. Even had a note from his doctor. He was deemed still capable to work.

Medicare & Medicaid?

Ya, I think the government would be great at running health care.

As someone who has parents on Medicare, it is horrible. They can hardly live on SS and Medicare. My Dad had cancer and is still trying to pay off bills. They are little to no help. It's better than nothing, but not by much.

    • Lets try it like this.
    • Yah - great looking decoys! MJ - I'm just letting you know I'm breaking into your house and stealing your spear rack.  And mount. I found a rickety old 5 tine when I cleaned out the garage.  I might give it a try this season.
    • I can't identify any of those for sure, and certainly wouldn't recommend eating any of them.  The first pic might be some older honey mushrooms, but it's pretty tough to tell.  I've got about 8 mushrooms that I can positively id.  Beyond that, it's just not worth being wrong.  There are still some fresh hen of the woods mushrooms around the metro if you get out into some oak woods.  You can find them around the base of big mature oaks and they are pretty easy to identify.  Found about 20 on Wednesday.  Many were a little old, but was able to take 4 nice ones home.  Here's a pic of one that I left behind.
    • I'm putting it on my calendar.  Don't forget the Nord Lord trophy since it has a new home to go to.
    • Detroit News breaks 143 year tradition, endorses Gary Johnson.   The endorsement is the first time in the paper’s 143-year history it has endorsed someone other than the Republican Party’s nominee. http://www.breitbart.com/news/detroit-news-breaks-tradition-endorses-libertarian-gary-johnson/
    • Kind of like Trump did Monday night.
    • Gets on a bunch of talk shows. Jumps another 5 points in the polls.. This just ain't working the way it's supposed to...
    • Looks like it's unanimous then. Good thing my vote goes to Hillary since it seems everyone thinks she is the best person for the job.
    • In your situation I'd try to be standing around the time you expect the deer to show up since it sounds like your upper body will have branch cover but not lose drawing ability. I usually set up off to the side and a little behind the tree from the direction I expect the deer to come from.  That way I get the full benefit of the cover of the tree I'm in. I stand a lot though; I rarely sit.  My ears tell me quite a bit but I'm usually looking around that tree all the time and my body is close to it.  I seem to be able to get away with quite a bit of movement and am rarely at 15 feet or higher.
