Anybody use the wheel of fortune?

I got one last year but had troubles setting it up. It looks like I should just thread it into the hole and use the nut to hold it into place. My problem is that the nut is to large to use on the wheel side and the bolt is to short to use it on the other side.

So should I go with out or try to grind the nut down or locktite it?
