Grab-shot white-throated sparrow

10 posts in this topic

I was out putting more seed in the bird feeders, camera over my shoulder, when this impatient adult white-striped (vs tan-sriped) morph white-throated sparrow popped in to see what I was doing.

Nothing phenomenal, just a decent grab shot of my favorite sparrow species warm in the sun. I'll clone out the offending branch later.

Canon 30D, Canon 400 f5.6L, monopod, iso400, 1/1600 at f5.6

Sharp is that lens' middle name. It's every bit as sharp as the 400 f2.8L and 500 f4L, and a tad sharper than the 600 f4L.

That's a beaut. However, every one that I've seen in my friend's yard has been on the ground. Not a one of these would sit in a tree.

Great capture Steve. I've never seen one of those. It sure is a funky looking sparrow.
