New Zercom Battery

AWH

Question

I just got myself a new battery for my Zercom. Should I assume this thing has a full charge on it? I was going to charge it up for about an hour just to top it off. Or should it be charged longer then that?

Aaron: Most Gel cel and maintence free come pre-charged. But over time they will discharge. Problem is, the battery you buy, you have no idea how old it is or when it was charged. Its best to get a cheap 12volt battery indicator or multimeter. Its best to undercharger than overcharge. A good 12 volt multimeter can be bought at any home store or the walmarts. Anyone with a boat should have one. Look for the brand name of Fluke if you can. Good Luck...

That was my thought when I bought the battery, I wonder how long this thing has been sitting here. I've been thinking I should probably invest in some type of battery indicator. Especially since my first boat is waiting for me come April. Thanks for the suggestion!
