Bluegill/Sunfish Shaped lures

TUMBLEWEED

Question

This past summer, I visited a small lake
that had tons of sunfish and some REALLY
big pike in it. Well, the pike wouldn't
hit any of the sucker or shiner minnows
we threw at them, but we did real well on
larger spoons. I think a sunfish style
crank-bait might be a hot ticket here,
but so far I have been unable to find a larger size one that fits the sunnies
native to this lake.Does anyone out there
know of such a lure??

On a sidenote, why is the DNR so against using a sunfish or perch for bait anyway?? It is legal in a lot of other states.

Tumbleweed,

The only three companies that I know that make sunfish shaped lures are:

1. Castaic Soft Baits makes realistic immitations of Sunfish (2 sizes), Crappie, Perch, Trout, Shad, and Crayfish.

2. Possum Lures makes soft plastic immitations of Pumpkinseed, Bluegill, and Crappie.

3. Bagley makes hard balsa wood immitations of Sunfish and other game fish.

I would recommend Castaic Lures as I have caught several large Musky and Bass on the Sunfish and Crappie models. You can find them on the Cabela's HSOforum. Hope this helps.
