Canoe Fishing for walleye

Question

I'm going up to Minneapolis. My aunt and uncle have a canoe and i think i'll use it because i can't bring my boat. Any tips on fishing out of a canoe?

A portable depth finder would be a big help finding structure. If using an anchor would too much hassle, tie a drift sock off the bow or stern. This would slow down a drift enough to allow time to fish an area. The biggest problem on metro lakes is watching out for boat traffic, and keeping the bow facing the boat wakes.
