Switch tiller boat to console?

fiskyknut

Question

Hey all, I have a 16' 10" Crestliner v-hulled fishing/utility boat and am looking for an engine. this boat is rated to 45hp in tiller. I have found a remote 45hp and was wondering whats involved to rig steering/throttle ect. I am handy with woodworking and have tools and common sense enough to be able to fashion a console. Has anyone done something like this? Also would the hp rating be different if this boat were a factory console?

Thanks for the help....Fisky

About all you need is a console and the controls. Check out an insurance salvage yard and you might be able to find a good console. With an older Lund, the console is riveted along the side and screwed into the gunwale.

Fiskyknut, If you are going to build your own counsole and need the steering controlls and stuff let me know because I have a friend who has an old boat he is tearing apart and I am sure he would sell all of these parts off of it at a resonable price. If you are interested you can e-mail me at [email protected]
