Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Winch Strap Use

Question

OK guys, I was driving 70mph on 94 yesterday. I passed a guy pulling about a 17'speed boat and noticed the winch strap AND safety chain were not connected. I pulled him over and told him. His reply, "I really don't think it's neccessary" as he connected them up rather fast. This guy was nuts wasn't he?

Dave,

Obviously, he is crazy for not using these safety features. A big gust of wind could have lifted his boat off his trailer and he could have had his hands full and would be endagering the lives of those around him.

One question for you, though.......you "pulled him over"???? Are you some sort of law enforcement officer or just very persuasive?

huskminn,
Back already from the honeymoon? Hope you had/are having fun.

No law enforcement job here. I had da wife wave him over to the side of the road. I didn't want to see anyone get hurt from one guys stupidity and have a flying boat in their face.

What the bone head should have said was "Thank you".

Dave,

Ah yes, back from the honeymoon....had a great time, saw lots of wildlife, got snowed on, waded some beautiful rivers, caught some cutthroat trout (one 20"!!) and stared at the mountains a lot.

Thanks for remembering.......

boss,
That did cross my mind after I started down 94 again. Kind of made me second guess my thoughts.

If any of you own the SUV and boat I stopped on 94 eastbound Sunday evening, around 5:15pm, I'll say something now I should have told you in person...................
YOU ARE NUTS!!

Ahhh, I feel better now. smile.gif

    • I had same challange. Went with a 12v temperature relay switch. Heater/Fans in my DIY wheelhouse now functions just like my home or RV forced air furnance. It comes with a small heat sensing probe i mounted on my upper air duct than set the on/off temperature so fans runs/stops when heat kicks on/off. Provides perfect comfort for $15.00. https://www.walmart.com/ip/bayite-DC-12V-Fahrenheit-Digital-Temperature-Controller-10A-1-Relay-with-Sensor/585224840?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=12524&adid=22222222227093022211&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=t&wl3=213210114658&wl4=pla-345493512458&wl5=9019533&wl6=&wl7=9019476&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=117430032&wl11=online&wl12=585224840&wl13=&veh=sem   Sensor under foil tape   Took photo when furnace was off. Temp range -40 to 230 f. Spare probe to right of controller, copper tube is thermostat, black button is pilot iginter.   Total set up with 4 speed auto fan switch.
    • Anyone know what depth I should be looking for Walleye’s at? I’ve always went just south of the main city in bayport on the wi side. In 32-36fow seems to be a crappie spot. Any suggestions would be great.
    • Well, craapy wood work or not. Had a very good day with my son for our first ice fishing trip in 10 years or so and put a few Walleyes on the ice. Let a nice 25" go.     Remember, it's not always what a box looks like. It's what you do with it!
    • Listening to the weather ,,, It sounds like the snow is going to go east of the northern part of the state ,,, I may have to buy a Wisc trail permit and head east
    • I used to watch lake forums very closely to hear the current chatter.  I never fish any of those lakes anymore, but I'm still curious.  Not to knock on any specific site, but it seems there is no longer any lake-specific chatter on the web.  Five to ten years ago, those forums were on fire with tips, pictures, etc.  Have they burned themselves out due to acceleration of info and subsequent mobbing, or what's the deal?   A few weeks ago, even the DNR made comment that the speed of information has had an impact on fisheries.     Curious what others think.
    • Nice win tonight, but my goodness! I hope they never wear those uniforms again!
    • Haven’t really posted on here all year, but here goes. It was an absolutely terrible season for me. I work 14 days then I’m off 7 days, and my 7 days off fell just so that I was only able to get out twice in November and then 5 days last week. Thankfully, last week made up for it and we shot some incredible trophies including 9 cinnamon teal, several mottled ducks, tons of perfect teal and even a hen Goldie and hen can, which are really weird for the salt. It’s really been a ball figuring out these coastal waters for the last 4 seasons, and I’m still learning new stuff every time I go out
    • I've hunted "A" a few times.  This season has accounted for the easiest and hardest hunts for me to date.  I've gone to hunting the middle seasons and find the birds more predictable.   I've had some great hunts late season as well.  My credo is hunt when you can....
    • Yes...yes it is.....way cheaper then a 10in Nils at $360.
