Non-Toxic Gear

1Yogi

Question

Just wondering what others were thinking about the issue. I read the Article in the Outdoors section of the STribune 3/19/03.
Personally I think the argument that nontoxic sinkers and jigs won't work as well as lead is the same non-argument hunters used regarding nontoxic shot. And think that if it's phased into the industry at a managable pace one day we will not miss the lead a bit. That's my 2 cents

The "non-argument" used by hunters against non-toxic shot performance? I hope you're not suggesting that steel shot is an adaquate substitute for lead and that we don't "miss lead a bit," because I think most do, very much. Now I can understand that the environmental impacts of lead shot are important enough to cause us to sacrifice performance, but rest assured that it is a sacrifice. I have yet to be convinced that the environmental impacts of lead fishing weights and jigs are of enough importance to warrant a similar sacrifice.
