      Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

      Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Wondering if anyone has a recipe for deer heart.  I usually brine for a night then boil with a whole onion and some garlic and few other spices.  

Any other ideas?

Here's my recipe that I've used for many, many years with lots of complements. 

1) Shoot Deer.

2) Pull guts and inners out.

3) Leave pile on forest floor to chill until some varmint comes by to enjoy it.

They love it every time!  :P

My brother smoked deer hearts, he slices the heart before brining, that's a pretty dense muscle to marinate whole.

 

I quit eating deer heart, animal organs gave a lit of cholesterol I've been told.

its ok Del...........not a fan of them........not even katchup  would get me to eat that anymore. i'll gladly give them to my brother!!!!!!!!

I actually cooked the heart from my dads deer this year. First time I ever had it and it won't be the last. I thought it was darn delicious.

Me too - I've never considered it before but gutted out my deer this year and the heart was in perfect shape, thought what the heck and threw it in the snowbank while I finished up and found a box of ziplocks in the truck.

Followed Hank Shaw's instructions on opening it up to remove the aorta, etc. and then separating into three separate pieces.  Marinated for a few hours and grilled it along with the tenderloins, sliced everything up on a plate and fed it to the family without saying anything more that it was two different cuts of venison.  The heart was hands down everyone's favorite, after every last piece was gone I informed them we had just polished off the heart - a few sideways looks but now the kids have been asking when we can have deer heart again!

I have had the heart before and found it to be very good. I think I will take some marinade along on my muzzleloader hunt and hopefully grill one up.

So I ended up putting it in a brine overnight, then seasoned it with a little of this and that.  Boiled it for 4 hours with 2 onions and clove of garlic and added cinnamon weird I know but turned out fantastic.

    • The CO that checked us on LOW this winter told us if you go out to the bathroom or a smoke it is OK, if you go next door to visit it is a ticket...
    •   Member of ADVRider. Rode with lots of guys on there. I just put out a feeler on here once in a while.
    • You ever check out www.thumpertalk.com Lots of guys in your area.
    • I think that summer one is in the regs, 75 feet as I recall.   
    • I am no expert either but putting my trust in the builder. Talking to him, there will only be enough lumber to screw the sheetrock to. There will be no 16" on center studwalls. He has done several like this with no problems. The "Gurts" are attached to the poles and you could saw the poles off at the bottom and move the whole building.
    • Like Leech said, it appears that a grant in aid trail is running through your area. I would urge you to contact the club president or another representative and try to work out a solution. They may be able to even re-route the trail to avoid your driveway but you will not know unless you engage in a civil discussion with a representative of the club. Just let them know you have concerns and see if an agreement can be had.    I would be surprised if the club doesn't have a landowners event every fall that you could attend and talk to club members as well to keep reminding them each year of your concerns.
    • Forgot this was a day game, missed it but happy we got the two points. We have been holding our spots and even have some games in hand on some other teams. If we can just keep this pace up we are in, but here is hoping we get hot towards the end of the year. Would be nice for a change. 
    • Nice win this afternoon on the road...things are getting interesting....need others to keep stumbling and we may not have to worry about a Wild Card.
    • That's the problem in restrictor plate races--stay on the gas and hit the car in front or lift and be hit from behind.
    • No doubt!   We didn’t have to wonder if there was actual contact though after Dillon said he had a run and just stayed in the gas.   Is what it is.  And that’s the difference I noticed.
