      Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

      Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

I guess I started this thread but never gave model name lol. I have the cozyna model air fryer its been great unit and so far non stick surface has been holding up well in dishwasher after every use. Super easy clean up.

I have a 3.2 L Cooks Essentials digital that I bought first. Not big enough. So I bought a 5.2L manual Bella. You definetly want to get a bigger one. As for manual or not.....less to go wrong with a manual. My Bella holds more food than the smaller one and works great. I use the Cook's Essentials only when I have 2 things to make. Plus the manual costs less. The Bella sells for about  $75. Digitals will sell for over $100. Four other members of my family now also have  them.

I purchased one for my wife for Christmas from Amazon called GoWise. We'll see how it works. 

I wanted the one with a larger capacity but they were out of stock when I ordered and I didn't want to take a chance of not getting it in time.

I have been enjoying the new air fryer but not tonight. Tried cooking up some northern pike tonight and I will be oil frying it from here on. Dipped it in egg and dredged it in a dry batter. It kind of got crisp but not in a good way. 

Has anyone had good results? I would think frozen pre battered fish would be ok.

Late to the party, here, but we got one a few months ago (NuWave 36001 Brio) at the boss lady's insistence. I was 100% convinced we'd use it twice, then put it in storage for three years before selling it for $5 at a garage sale, but I was very, very wrong! It's a cooking appliance staple now that never leaves the counter top. With a two year old boy, it is a life saver for quick, easy meals like nuggets, fries, tots, and corn dogs. Chicken comes out great. All frozen appetizers are excellent, and it's half the time of the oven. We got it late fall, but not cranking on the oven in July will be nice.

 

The big test for me was fish. I did a side-by-side test--panko crusted deep fried vs panko crusted with a spritz of olive oil air fried.

 

For me, the deep fried is a 9/10. The air fried, crazy as it sounds, was a solid 8/10. It really does turn out pretty darn good! The old lady said she noticed no difference whatsoever, but she was still bragging about how good of an investment it was, so I deducted one point from here score which now reflects my own. :lol:

 

I suggest lining the tray with foil regardless of what you cook. Lesson learned was bacon wrapped venison bites. Came out great, but cleaning that without foil was not fun...

 

Bottom line, it's been a great little unit that has seen nearly daily use!

Fish are the only thing I still deep fry. And I also put tin foil in the bottom to make cleanup easier. My2 air fryers sit on the counter all the time.

The one thing I would look for in an air fryer after having two different ones is to pick one that can get up to 400 degrees. Both that I have are limited to 350 and IMHO that is too low to get things as crisp as a conventional fryer and I think the extra 50 degrees could be a difference maker. I see there are several models now that can reach that temp.

The default temp is 360 for the NuWave 36001 Brio I mentioned above, but it can be programmed as high as 390. I absolutely agree that it does make a difference for certain things to get those extra 30-40 degrees.

    • The fact that dave and others need to or choose to avoid carbs, either because they have diabetes or other medical conditions, or because they no longer accept the prevailing, but evolving, idea that a high carb diet is best.     There are a number of eating styles that emphasize low or reduced consumption of carbohydrates.   Atkins and Paleo are two such eating styles.   Gary Taubs has written a couple of books that delve into the issue.   "good calories, bad calories" is a good start.     
    •  Yes, Nils Master blades will mount on any of the Nils augers of the same size    New out of the box the Slick blades (black)  have a hair less bite to the ice then the Red blades.   Otherwise the biggest difference is only color.    Sharpening will change the characteristics of the blade, after all your taking material off and altering it's profile.   The Nils Bud (head) was intended to be resharpened and reshaped.  If you were to only sharpen a Nils and send it out you could end up with a blade that isn't going to make someone happy.  There are factory tools for the final mount set for a new blade and they are spot on.   On ice testing allows me to make adjustments to a blade altered by sharpening and any other damage caused to the blade. I do take into account the difference in cut between the Slick and standard Red when making adjustments.    The 8" Red w/PowerPoints should cut like the standard Red.  The reason for the powerpoints is to aid in centering at start or possibly overlapping holes which I can't attest to.   Any Nils in good cutting condition should start a clean hole with no skip out. If there is any skip out you'll notice other undesirable quirks with it's cut as well.

    • Difference be tween wanting and doing, I am saying Leo said those things because we just had an amazing season, you don't see the bottom dwellers saying those things, then injuries happened because that is part of hockey. Lets just forget this franchise and management stuff and focus on hockey, we will never agree. Granny and Zucker are heating up, hopefully get nino back after the allstar break. Dumba and Spurgie are having nice years, Staal is Staal, Ek even looking better lately and omg Parise scored again. Wild are 6-2-2 in their last 10. The only problem is the central is brutal as ever and somehow the avs have won ten in a row. Have to pass them, Dallas or the Blues to get in. Plenty of time to do it, just keep getting those points.
