New Ranger 6x6 info?

5 posts in this topic

Posted (edited)

A stone mason Buddy is looking at a 6x6 for work, for stone work in new home construction area with lots of dirt/mud/etc. Hauls lots of stone mainly, but also just about anything. Uses a golf cart now (works awesome, actually!) but it won't cut it on the terrain of the new project. The homes are BIG (>25k sq ft.....) so the golf cart/utv will save time and laborers backs, and pay for itself. Looked at the Gator as well, but on paper it just doesn't stack up to the Ranger. He is thinking of putting a custom bed on it.

Just wondering if anybody has experience with the 6x6 800, and know of any particular issues this unit or the engine have. Good thing is it just may double as a hunting tool for us during duck season ;)

Thanks for any info, and also for any recommendations on good dealers in the metro area, or even just outside of metro. Tousley is very near to us, but I have only bought parts from them, not bikes.

I have had several Polaris models. Not the 6x6 but the platforms are all similar. The 800 is a decent engine for sure and it will ride nice.

That being said- if I were buying a sxs for working like that I would look long and hard at a Honda. They have always used better components than Polaris and have a much lower failure rate in my experience. Polaris to me always have issues with poorly designed or underbuilt components.

Can Am would be a strong choice as well.

Don't overlook the Kawasaki Mule 4010.  We've had a couple of them around the compound for more than ten years (  the 3010) and they are rough, tough dependable rigs. Good sized box that will dump, lots of crawl when in low gear locked differential. We put a roof on one and a windshield and it will run around in the winter through reasonable conditions. Seldom a problem and even then nothing serious.

Worth a look.

The first quad I ever owned was a Kawasaki bayou 220 2 wd. That thing sat in a corn crib year round and the one year it got to something like -40f (1994?) I went out all bundled up and the thing popped right off. Kawasaki has awesome motors ime.

    • Last Friday, I saw a beetle at my home's carpet. It is very difficult for me to get rid with this beetle and I also saw some eggs were laying on the carpet, which was quite damaging. Then on a recommendation of my neighbor I had called up the Queens NY pest control services, who had used an insect spray and where the experts spray around the floorboards, furniture and on carpets and helped us by preventing the carpet beetles laying their eggs and removing all the food sources.
    • arby's fries frozen?  at supermarket?  have to look for them...
    • Oh, just like the Rompers you are wearing around town then.
    • Made some frozen Arby's fries tonight and wow they were great. I would be sold just on the fries alone in this thing.   11mins cooked frozen, better and quicker than the drive thru lol
    • Actually the guy at ace was pretty close. These little guys are for framing steel studs before sheetrocking,  but yes they also could be for sheet metal work even though they are black . But your right hawg sharp and go in fast.
    • What  a sweet find !!   Even better that you had a camera handy !!
    • Great trade and as of last year I know I wasn't ready to part with Lavine and his potential but that all changed when he went down with the injury.  I hope Lavine becomes a stud for Chicago in a few years but our time to win is now with this addition!!  Great move giving up hope for a top 15 player in the league that plays D is brilliant with the young studs we still have on roster.  Now all we need to do is add another player or 2 in free agency to strengthen our bench and we will be looking good.  Excited for the free agency to start!!! Playoffs here we come!!!!!! GO WOLVES!!!!!!!!!!!
    • http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2017/06/22/mall-of-america-slips/   Classic case of doctors juicing up a medical claim with a series of failed therapies, creating a life long patient and a corporation with deep pockets to bill for those services.  Think not?  Dont be so naive.  Nobody wanted to fix her, they just wanted to keep billing, sad deal that happens all too often.
