First pileated ever....

Today had pilieated woodpecker at the suet cake...   First one ever.  I will post pics when the ones on the wife's iphone show up... I hope it shows the bird.

Cool birds and usually I have to be back deep in the trees to see one.

glad you got one to come in! it will keep returning now and then I bet if ya keep suet out.

If they find a place to nest, they'll probably keep coming back for years.  I've had pileated woodpeckers around my place since I built my house over 30 years ago.

here also, we live right in town and no idea where they nest but they visit quite often.
