Changing the cell phone number

Tom7227

Question

I am thinking about dumping the land line and changing my cell phone number to that number.  But I have had that cell number for years and don't want to lose calls.  By any chance does Verizon forward calls to a new number or run a recording indicating what the new number is?  Any other ideas on how to deal with this?

Thanks for your time.

If Verizon can't just forward ...

Establish 2 cell phones:

The first has your landline number, along with all of your data and minutes.  This would be the phone you carry with you.

The second has your cell phone number and has a really low cost monthly package on it.  I am certain that you could set this phone up to forward all calls to the other phone.

Reevaluate after 6 months.  You may find no need to keep the cell phone number.

We just dumped our land line. our situation is a little bit different. the only calls we would get on the land line where free cruises to the bahamas, debt consolidation companies, and tech support calls from "microsoft". we decided the landline was no longer worth it and ditched the number all together.

I can see wanting to keep the number if you had a legitimate number of social calls on the landline. Transitioning the few contacts that we had via landline was not that big of deal for us.
