Neighbor_guy
Since the DNR continues to ignore the very healthy and very huntable population of Sandhill Cranes in East Central MN. Regardless of how many calls and emails are placed they still say the same things. " ...we know there is a stable and huntable population, but there isn't enough interest or farmer complaints....." So I just keep emailing and calling. So until I get to hunt them at home I will need to travel. Can anyone here point me in the direction of a starting point on hunting in the NW Early Goose Zone??? I am not after specific locations. But I have no idea where to go for public lands, and have no contacts for private farm lands in that area of the state. Any help would be appreciated. Feel free to send me a PM if you don't want to say anything specific in an open forum. I'm just looking for a starting point. Thanks
Neighbor_guy
Nothing..... Well, thanks for the tips. Guess I will just need to do some prospecting and make my own mistakes and lessons.

monstermoose78
The cranes around here are a danger to motorists!! They have been walking on the roads through the refuge. The cranes are starting to fly in flocks and hit wheat and oat fields. Neighbor guy I know a friend of mine hunts cranes up there I will reach out and see what he says MJ1657 and Neighbor_guy

monstermoose78
Aren't cranes just monster sized morning doves? fishuhalik and MJ1657
Neighbor_guy
The way I understand it they are the best eating migratory birds you will ever eat. But they still seem to think that we shouldn't hunt them here in the sand belt counties in east central MN. Every cut hay field I derive past today had a dozen or more in it. I've made some calls and will do some driving when I am north next weekend. monstermoose78
