Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Forums go dead??

Recommended Posts

Been noticing the lack of posts, and or new topics.  Nothing!!  No king of the cats this year?   Dtro where did you go?  I must have missed something.

Well anyways,  the water got above 60 on Sunday which has taken me to the river earlier than ever this year.  Of course there isn't much water to warm. Projects around the house will have to wait til the heat of summer now. Fished a few hours during the midafternoon with some cut sucker, but no takers.  Smaller fish (i assume) would constantly tug at the bait, but nothing with enough ambition to peel out the clicker. Anyone having any luck yet.  The forecast looks as though the water will cool some this week, but i'm wide open fishing now.  Good luck to all,

Hey Motown,  I hear ya on the forums, things sure have changed on the past few years.   I check back here from time to time, but not very often.  Most all the catfishing traffic and chatter that I participate in has moved over to Facebook groups.  I’ve been out a few times this year and there have been some nice Flats caught but on the slow side so far.

Good to hear from the OG catman.  I was a little concerned something had happened. I've always enjoyed reading the posts, and the detail that you put into them.  Thanks for the reply, and good luck with the season.

Fished three days the past week, which have been less than great.  Water temps now back to the upper 50s, and the optimism grows everyday.  Caught a few channels, one flathead (under 20lbs), and a six pound walleye on cut bait.  That was the first cutbait walleye i've caught.

Big plan is to fish late the next few nights with the temps predicted to stay in the upper 50s for the lows.  It will happen soon. See you all on the river.  (jk as i've only seen one boat this year).

The great divide of the sight (sic) contributed to lack of traffic on both.   Sad.

Lots of factors come into play. I have observed decreased activity on other online forums. I use to frequent a couple of black powder boards and they are just dead.

Facebook is king?  Must be why things suck!  What happened to 'new content' on this site?

So, what are you doing to contribute?  Staff, moderator, maybe you had something to do with it.   Cooking forum got blown up. Lost a bunch of valuable contributors. Check it out.

Alas, I miss typed.  Facebook sucks.

The 'new content' is very different of late and I'm still trying to grasp all the old content it sometimes shows.

Nice to see a few comments at least.  It's not dead, but we need more useful info, not the bashing of the previous post.

Anyway, the cats are finally starting to bite.  Not fast, or steady, but it can be done.   Good luck to all

In my opinion it will bounce back just fine this forum or the others. This time of the year things get pretty busy for lots of families and just can't find the time to post what's going on.

There may be a time when web based message forums make a comeback, but I doubt it.   It’s just evolution.  Eventually something will overtake Facebook as well.  You can either go with the flow or stand your ground and get washed out.    People are even starting to do live streams from their boats.  It’s pretty good entertainment!   Oh by the way, yes the big cats are very active and it’s in full swing.   I’m still looking for a giant, but I had a pretty good night the last time I was out.

I quit when I realized two things:  nobody really gave a shytt what I said and I was tired of dealing with a complete screwball moderator and a couple of his pals. There was no reasonable discussion involved most of the time.

The new content view was the only way Id' view the site since it takes too long to click on all the individual forums to see if there is any new content.  It was nice to see each thread that has had new activity in one spot.  Now they list the thread each time a new post is made so if 5 new posts are in that thread you see it listed 5 times instead of just one.  In my opinion it only clutters up the list and leads to new topics being buried quicker.  If someone starts a new thread with great information it can get buried pretty quickly on the New Content list by an active topic in Silly Town that gets 15 new posts in an hour.  Then it looks like the only new content is the typical silly town stuff which doesn't help you maintain a reputation of being a leader in outdoors related information.

Great observation. I am checking to see if we can get a way to add this option.

Well, I myself have gathered alot of information on these forums.  I hate to see the big social media hypec and  I've teased my wife for too many years to get on facebook now.  I'll keep checking in hoping for the big comeback.

It's nice to see the giants getting pulled in, however it isn't by me which is getting a little frustrating, but that's fishing.  The river was in the low 70s on Thurs, and guessing it to be closer to 80 by today if not tomorrow.  Hard to sit on the river in this heat, but i've never caught one from the couch.  Good Luck.

Should be fixed now :)

The biggest problem with Facebook based discussion groups is that the info they contain is not organized or easily archived and searchable. My guess is that eventually Facebook will figure this out and change the way their discussion groups work and then that may be the end of web based forums until something else comes along and takes over.

What do you mean "quit"?

    • Brother and I doubled this morning in my shortest Black Hills public land hunt ever...   3 hours from time of leaving the car.      Parked the car and had turkeys gobbling on the public side of the road right where we planned to go.   Two gobblers dropped down into the field in front of us at first light and bred a hen right there.   They almost came in to us once the hen left them, but changed their mind and walked over the hill to the rest of the flock.  After a couple hours of cat and mouse we managed to get in front of them and after one close call with a blow down in the way had a second chance and were able to take both gobblers at the same time.   37yd shot for my brother, and 44yd shot for mine.
    •   I see a pattern I hate to see from any player....Granlund in the last 2 seasons combined: April 2G/3A   Playoff Totals last 2 yrs combined 1G/4A    Those are terrible end of year stats for any player...I just think he is too small and plays even smaller...when the going gets tough he disappears..he probably is just worn out come late in the season and we need players who can step up when we need them most.
    • Can’t really say I’m disappointed in their performance. I was expecting a blowout sweep.   my dream scenario is, trade Wiggins and 1st round pick(s) to Spurs for Kawhi Leonard. Then offer LeBron James a blank check. Let him fill in the numbers.
    •     Guys, we need a name.  This is the only idea so far.  Unless anyone has something else to say, I'll make the switch later today.  Once that's done, I'll tell my story and submit my entry.
    • I watched the first half of that game, sheez, do the rockets ever miss any 3's!!
    • I think you guys are spot on about the 3's. If you look at the stats vs Houston in the playoff. The Wolves had a better FG% and also had more rebounds. Turnovers and FT's were about even. Houston simply put up and made more 3's and that was the difference.
    • I've always been a fan of launching as many three's as possible. It's a numbers game, making 40% of your three's is like shooting 60% from two point range points wise.   The Warrior's and Rocket's have shown what that type of game plan can lead to. It's the way the NBA is trending.   So we need guys that can hit from the outside. Honestly, we need guys that don't miss those three foot gimme's either.   I expected to be swept, and they played OKAY in the playoffs, but they need to step up things next year if they want compete at the highest level.
    • I wouldn't expect much out of Brown's creek.   Vermillion is tough to fish.  Really tough.  But I helped volunteer with a DNR electrofishing survey there and there are some unbelievable trout in there.    Also netted a monster northern that I'm not even sure how it even turned around in the section we found it in.
    • Last off season I was so hoping that the Wolves would have landed JJ Reddick but he chose 76er's...what the Wolves needed was a solid quick shooting 3 point guy and I really think that ended up being their shortfall.  It was a good season and hope that Wiggins either gets traded or finds that fire in the belly to become a dominant scorer and on ball defender night in and night out!!!  I really think he has the potential/talent but just don't think he has the will or determination to work that hard.
