Going to either be buying a new desktop or have one built. I have heard some say Windows 10 is good and other who say otherwise. I simply use this desktop for photos , surfing the net and not much else, few things in Word and Excell. Am I better staying with 7 Pro or Home premium or doing the Windows 8 o 10? Thanks for any direction.

Moving to w10 is going to be mandatory. I now have two computers with windows 10, and it seems fine.  Might as well bite the bullet.

I agree with what you said Del , my biggest concern is a few friends who said they really did not care for 10 and then said get something else. I could go with 7 or something else but like XP, they will go away.

Might be I just have to go the route with 10.

I can't imagine what their issues with 10 might be.  It seems to run everything I have, including office2000.  The format of windows explorer changed some, and internet explorer replaced by something better.  But nothing much, actually.

2 thumbs up on the Windows 10, don't sweat it, the interface is slightly different than 7 but not anywhere near as bad as Windows 8 was.

Agree.

It seems to run smoother and feels less bloated than previous versions.

Windows 10 is much more like windows 7 than windows 8 was.  8 IMO was rolled out to compete with the iPad interface.  Fine if you are Mac user, but I prefer windows and that pad style interfaces sucked as a workstation interface.  I am not sure I have heard of any major place rolling out, everyone was hanging on to 7 hoping 8 would just go away.

Sounds like I will be going the route of w10, thanks for all the replies. I know 2 fellows that use their computer's a lot and said don't get 10, did no ask why. Guess maybe they simply do not like change.

Windows 10 is good. I cleaned it up so that I never have to use any built in app and defaulted everything to my choice like windows photo viewer. (yes its still there). Stability is good except for minor IE glitches.

    • I won't be able to post the scores for this week until maybe Wed. so if someone else wishes to do so feel free to do it. In fact for the entire summer season I'm going to be pretty much hit and miss. So don't count on me the lake is calling and I have no computer there. My scores will drop like a rock unless luck prevails.
    • That should make things interesting

    • So I'm finally getting ready to get the boat wet for the first time this year.   I noticed last night the steering wheel is very tough to turn.  I did done research on some older threads on this site containing to my problem.   One tip I read was to check the big nut next to the motor on the steering arm.  Its printed on the nut -caution**tighten.  Some one said that nut should be loose.  Mine was wrenched tight apparently.  Does the warning on the nut mean , make sure its tight or do not wrench tight???  Btw it's a 05' mercury 115 if that makes any difference.   I will also re lube and clean the components also to see if it makes a difference.   Thanks for any input!!
    • Hey team, last miute success for the team...... nice tom too!!! Heading on vacation today will submit it mid next week when I get back. 22.11lbs with 10 3/4 beard.
    • I will admit to this :   there are a couple of crystal clear, cold lakes in Yukon,  within a mile or so of my cabin, where you COULD actually eat and enjoy pike. They did not compare to some nice Grayling but  you COULD eat them. I'm not a fish eater unless it is fresh king salmon or kind crab but quite a few folks would eat the pike. And I will admit to enjoying a chunk of walleye now and then so long as it is slathered in hot sauce and I have had 13 double Makers Marks. But hey!.....you fellas enjoy them!
