Low Volume Playing DVD

I have played both Sony and Samsung DVD and Blue Ray players thru my Samsung 32inch flat screen TV's. I have to crank up the volume almost to the max to hear the movie. No, I am not hard of hearing Ha!  What's up? Watch tv thru the cable box and no problem.

Is there a audio level setting on one of the menus on the dvd player?   Or a setting for that input on the TV menu?

I just looked at my sony blue ray and there are several audio modes, but no level that I could see.  Try some different modes.  If the tv is stereo and the player is trying dolby 7.1 or something it could make a difference.
