DogFish107
I have dabbled with ice fishing the St Croix River above the Taylors Falls Dam. I have fished the lions park and have seen other holes punched there. Anyone ever ice fish the lions park right above the dam as well? has anyone else ever tried fishing backwater pools on the upper stretch of the Croix? does anyone have a guess on where the fish in that stretch of river would migrate during the winter months? Nick Kuhn
I've only fished it open water. Not sure how far you could safely travel upstream. On the few passes I've done with side scan, nothing really sticks out as a place to fish in the winter. If you can find some downed wood (basically a roll of the dice), that might be a good place to stay until fish move through. In my experience in the summer there are always plenty of fish moving about the channel. Unfortunately, a lot of those are very small channel catfish. Jarrid Houston
I would venture to say that this area having grown up around the area is dangerous territory. I imagine fish are there but ice fishing it, I don't think I am going out there. Be safe.
