Heisman

An NFL MVP? That's a stretch. I could likely agree with you if you had said NFL Pro Bowl MVP since that is the analogy I made in my post, but no way the NFL MVP.

Actually, the Heisman is not at all comparable to a Pro Bowl MVP. It has nothing to do with only 1 game like the pro bowl MVP plus if you want to talk about something that is meaningless, that would be the Pro Bowl.

The Heisman is awarded annually to the most outstanding player in college football in the United States whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity. Winners epitomize great ability combined with diligence, perseverance, and hard work.

100% agree! I have no idea why they even bother having it anymore.

What you are neglecting to comprehend is that I was responding to JB's comment about rather having a Heisman trophy than an NFL MVP trophy.

You can honestly tell me that you would rather have the college version of the "MVP" than one from the Professional Level (NFL MVP)? I don't buy it. This is where I said if he was talking about the Pro Bowl MVP, certainly I would value the Heisman over that because that is just a stupid exhibition, but come on! Over the NFL MVP? No way.

I just feel that the heisman is more prestiges. If your an MVP caliber player in the NFL, your already making millions, so if you don't win it, you can still go to bed at night knowing your a millionaire. You also have multiple chances of winning it, where as the heisman, you might only get 1 crack. Plus the trophy is WAY cooler looking! Everyone has struck a heisman pose a few times in their life...I couldn't even tell you what the MVP trophy looks like, unless I google it.

I honestly can't understand people's fascination with professional sports. To me, college football is the best sport around by far.

Money aside, its about having the best of the best at every position on the field. Do I appreciate that professional athletes in many cases are complete jackholes? Absolutely not, but they are the best at their respective "profession" so to me awards at that level signify elite.

Rose Bowl showed everyone where the Heisman should have went. Kid is a beast.

Based on what?

Based on 1 game that hadn't even happened yet at the time the Heisman was awarded?
Based on the fact that McCaffrey had less rushing yards than Henry?
Based on the fact that Henry had about 4 times more TDs than McCaffrey?
Based on the defenses that Stanford plays against in the Pac-10 vs. Henry doing what he did against SEC opponents?

Don't get me wrong, McCaffrey is a great player and just about any other year he may have won the Heisman and will probably be the favorite going into next year but Henry deserved that Heisman every bit as much as McCaffrey did.
