Shaggy Parasol Mushrooms

Recommended Posts

We had a bunch of these pop up next to some hostas. They're now bigger and the caps have flattened out more. We think they're Shaggy Parasol mushrooms, which apparently are edible. Anybody have any experience with these?

Thanks icehole. Most of what I've read has said they were good to eat. I don't think there are any dangerous lookalikes where I live, but I'm still a little unsure about trying them.

That's one I've never properly identified, so I'm not much help.  There IS one look-alike that will make you very sick, though.  It's even in the same genus--it's chlorophyllum molibdites.  What you have there doesn't *appear* to be the same thing, but be careful.   C. molibdites causes more mushroom poisonings in the U.S. than any other 'shroom.
