lungdeflator
Anybody done an early ice trip up there? I know the ice/weather can be sketchy on the big waters early on, but if it is good I have a tentative trip planned for mid December. Hoping to get away from the March crowds and not have to worry about the snow/slush/ridges early ice.How far north do you fish early ice? Thanks for any info. cam white
The big girl is sketchy in December. One wind can screw everything up. Usually safe by Christmas for foot and sled traffic, all depends on the cold. I'm usually on the red by early December. The walleye are hot at first ice. lungdeflator
Thanks Cam. Do you fish the river right around Selkirk or more so towards the mouth?Last year seemed like the ice was good in northern MN middle of November, was the ice on Winnipeg good mid December last year? cam white
I fish from cil road north. 12 feet early as the eyes are untouched and Not pressured. I don't fish the river at all once the lake ice has firmed up. I was on third week in November last year. The ice on the lake started good, then a big wind came up and piled it all up in the south basin.
